these are trash. the motherboard is the biggest POS i've ever seen. intel CPUs have known stability issues even in the best environments, and on these computers it's even worse because this uses the same VRM they used in the 90s era "Bop It!" toys. the GPU has an anemic cooler. the motherboard is also proprietary.
the Alienware i got had a DRAM-less SSD

yes it's cheap, but that's because they cut every corner imaginable. you can buy it, but be aware you're not getting what you think you are getting. countless tech journalists have shows that these dell prebuilts constantly under perform what their specs suggest because of the cut corners

Good deal on a liquid cooled i7 and 4070 super. My Delta Amex had $105 off. Even if you upgrade the SSD or RAM, it's still better than you can get from buying the parts.

I ended up taking the cpu/gpu (amd/nvidia) and building my own. The Alienware I had kept thermal throttling and stuttering because of the badly cooled motherboard. It also sounded like a jet engine. Only bought it because of the gpu shortage days.

Same VRAM as 90's "Bop It!" toys 😂 love the analogy.

Friends don't let friends buy Alienware. Unless it's a monitor.

Was gonna go for the 4080s build that's on sale but ended up getting the 4090 with more storage.

The review on the Dell proprietary GPU is solid and yes, I know Intel i9's can be unstable but I'm willing to try in the hopes that I don't have those issues or that Intel finally addresses it (not likely at this point).

Bottom line is you can't find a 4090 build for $2515 and a lot of 4080 prebuilts are around that price. So for me it was a no brainer to get the most powerful set up for the cost of some 4080s builds.

FWIW I haven't read the F models being affected. It's all been K and KF.

Yeah I haven't either. I believe its because they have a lower default TPI @ 65 watts..but nothing is confirmed.

I'm looking for a decent PC I can edit photography and video on as well as play Microsoft Flight Sim at a decent frame rate and maybe some old school classics. It's getting so depressing seeing either deals that involve Zip Pay or seeing comments trashing a product even though it also has a lot of thumbs up votes. So is this computer unstable or trash in general? Or is just trash if you intend on overclocking and generally totally maxing out its capabilities? The price is appealing in particular as I can get an additional $105 off on an AMEX offer. I'm just struggling to understand whether this product is genuinely bad or if it's just all relative to what people expect to do with it.

I hope buyers get a unit problem free, any problems needing a return you pay shipping, and it's expensive, I would rather a local Best Buy.

I won't buy anything from Dell ever again. Such a zombie brand now.

Bought an Alienware from them 2 years ago, got it -- it was a lemon. Sent it in to get it fixed, they sent it back and it was stolen because FedEx didn't get a signature for the package drop off. Dell wouldn't do anything and neither would FedEx. Still fighting Comenity Bank to not pay for it when I don't have it.
