For us unfortunate souls in California paying PG&E Summer peak hour prices of 62 cents per kilowatt hour the energy bill of running a 4080 for 3 hours a day alone could be $18 per month. Not to mention avoiding buying a $1000 graphics card. So this purchase saves money. That's what I tell my spouse anyway ...

Great deal!

GeForce Now ultimate tier high bitrate AV1 streaming quality at 4k 120fps makes everything else look like hot garbage. I now shake my head in disgust when I see even the smallest visual artifacts. It's ruined me forever.

Playing this on a handheld like ASUS ROG Ally which support 120Hz is like playing games on a Gameboy from 20 years in the future. Not just the visual quality, but the fact it also triples the battery life compared to running the game locally. Playing on a big TV is like a cinematic experience. Plus you don't have to deal with the fan noise or power bill of owning your own giant rig.

Nabbed the 6 month deal, just wish I could lock in the pricing for even longer. Previously my phone plan offered 6 months for free (no longer), so always be on the lookout for deals.

Two days ago I resubbed to the Ultimate Tier, paying the regular $19.99+tax price for one month. When I saw this deal posted today I immediately contacted Nvidia's GeForce Now chat customer support to see if I could either get a 50% refund or instead just add another month to my Ultimate Subscription. This was the response:

"I regret to inform you that there is no refund option available for GFN-related services, as detailed in our GFN Terms and Conditions, which can be found here: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce-now/membership-terms/ [nvidia.com] "

She then agreed to "...escalate this matter to the relevant team to explore potential solutions. While I cannot guarantee a refund at this time, our team will look for available options and keep you updated through email."

So while a partial refund is not completely off the table just yet, it's also not guaranteed and I may just have to suck it up and move on. This is just an FYI post for those that wanted to know.

Just to double check, all the news articles about Xbox adding GFN support from 2 days ago...that was just them adding redirect links to cloud games that were already supported, right?

Is there anyway to get 2 consecutive months of GFN at the discounted price? A post on Reddit of a CSR makes it sound like you can get 1.5 months of ultimate by paying for standard and then upgrading which pro-rates and converts...but I could be reading what they said wrong. (if true, that would also mean up to 9 months of ultimate at the discounted price)

I was literally considering buying 6mo yesterday at full price but didn't pull the trigger. This makes it a no brainer, thanks!

Same here. Not to mention that GPUs get super hot here.

Would this service essentially not push my computer to max so that the GPU doesn't need to run as much? If so, sounds like less power usage and less heat, no?

Yes, video decoding is much less power intensive than running the game locally. Less power, less heat, less fan noise.

Yes; you gotta make sure no pesky tasks are in the background hogging resources/ram like malware detector or windows modules. My Chromebook was able to handle it with minimal issues yesterday using the browser instead of the app.

I'm a Founder on Priority plan. Unfortunately, this deal is not for people like me. I'd love to upgrade to Ultimate, but I don't play that much to pay the normal price (but I do like my game pretty 😁)
Yeah same here , what's up with that ??

It wasn't worth it last time. A large number of games are not supported. I had issues with connected accounts going in and out (so you have to type in your lengthy and confusing passwords all over again).

It would almost always say my wifi network wasn't fast enough and require a wired connection to work properly. (I didn't have this issue back when Stadia was around)...

I also don't have this issue with Amazon Luna.

They have a lot of work to do on their end before I would ever consider coming back.
I used game pass streaming and that worked OK but was a little laggy. Then I got a PS5 and for some reason I get by just fine streaming from the PS5 cross country as long as I have a decent cell or WiFi connection.

Not sure why that works so well and Nvidia or Gamepass doesn't.

Yup, while building a PC is pretty fun - if you have the internet speed to support it, and they have the games you want to play, Geforce Now will always be a better deal. $200 bucks a year (without a deal) to consistently have access to the highest-end components without paying electricity to run them is nice.

Main drawbacks are: can't do anything else with that hardware, mods etc... that aren't built into the game aren't accessible, connection is hit or miss based your internet and location, and of course, the games you have access to is limited.

Is there any lag with this? Is this like effectively "streaming" a game?

That cold shower feels the best. I survived high 90's heat this way.

I made the mistake of getting the priority subscription, and it turned out to be a big disappointment. The resolution when playing on a television is atrocious, and the worst part is that there's no way to upgrade, other than paying full price
