Does it support Linksys Velop Mesh technology?
No. This model does not support Linksys Mesh; it is a standalone router only.

Can I use the Linksys app with the Linksys MX4300 (LN1301)?
No. This router does not support Linksys cloud services; therefore, the Linksys app is not supported.

Ok, so I got mine and fiddled with it. First, this is a very easy router to unbrick so go ahead and fiddle with the firmware all you want. Unfortunately I was unsuccessful in installing the linksys mx4200v1 firmware as well as installing openwrt for mx4200v1. On openwrt the light turned purple but I couldn't ssh into the router. I guess it can't be hacked into a mesh. Went ahead and purchased the slickdeal mx8000 refurbished that was just posted and will be returning these. Good luck to all and please do post on any different outcomes. Obviously $25 a node for a 4.2gbps Wi-Fi 6 mesh would be a spectacular bargain.

I'm probably gonna return mine, I don't even have an option to flash firmware in the connectivity option, can only upgrade online, seems manual flashing is non existent even though the guides say so.

So are you saying this router is not openwrt compatible? I just wanted a router with decent cpu to run a parallel wifi network always connected to VPN

You have to click the CA button at the bottom and you can flash whatever file you want

Got the router. Its LN1301. How can you set this in repeater mode? All I see is bridge. Also anyone have a guide for installing openwrt yet?

So folks what is the verdict? Other than the price, worth keeping?

Need to replace my Asus AC1900 units but If these Linksys units are more hassle for a just a normal user (ala minimal tinkering user) then its worth than will need to find another solution.

What say you, SD experts..?

I am not really interested into making it a mesh, but having OpenWRT support would be nice.

I'm guessing it's looking unlikely? Unless anyone else has tried and had different results.

I'm running a netgear R6330, this is like a REALLY good upgrade for me right?
My current wifi goes through the neighbors house into their backyard (duplex) but just barely, so this would probably improve my connection while I'm back there?

I tried using the v1 squash file but it just bricks the device.

same lights show up as well ... pretty much bricks when trying to flash. hope they work that out.
