Hi, Costco employee here in the Refunds department - this is a store-specific manager markdown on a SKU we no longer carry or are starting to phase out.

This is extremely, extremely, extremely YMMV because it depends on the store managers choosing to mark them down to a rock bottom price to move the floor models or last units. Not all stores do this and some managers often just split a pallet space and will sell their final units with a similar model with no markdown at all.

In terms of clearances at Costco from most widely available to least:
1) Manufacturer's coupons are region-wide (if not nationwide)
2) $X.97 cent markdowns are city specific and often used to incentivize more sales on featured items to hit quotas
3) $XX.00 when it ends in .00, these are manager markdowns only used to get rid of displays or last units, or SKUs no longer carried
--> fun fact, .00 manager markdowns are actually negotiable!

You can usually slash off 10-15% just by asking for a manager and offering to take the last unit off their hands. I've seen $1999.99 MSRP furniture marked down to $1799.97, then finally $1500.00 and members have successfully talked it down further to $1200.

The bulkier the item, the more likely prices will be slashed if you ask. Works extremely well for couches, tables, patio sets, and refrigerator/washer dryers.

It's more than likely the display model. My local one in San Diego had it for 1200. They told me it doesn't have the same warranty, though, so I didn't get it

I picked up the 65" version of this last week for $1200 at the Sharpsburg GA Costco and it is amazing once calibrated! It was the last one new in box.

WOAH!! so how much can i get this lowered at $1700? I really might try… 15% off would be $1445. So would I phrase it as "would you take $1450 for this?"

Yes. No stock in my county. I went all over looking for the 1999.99 deal everyone was talking about earlier in the week

I bought a refurb a80j77 for 1250 and it was definitely worth it. You might not be able to tell how worth it until you actually get it home and dial it in though. Not going to look so great in store.

There is a good chance you can get it for $1200 out the door! Sounds like some other stores are manager marking these down to $1200 already so you have a strong base to stand on already. Wish you luck!

I just purchased the a80l 65 inch for 1499+tax from costco.com. delivery and five year warranty included. I think that is a great price for this tv. I have been buying Sony tv only for the past twelve years with four TVs bought. I still have three of them. This will be my fifth one.

I've tested lots of TV's in my living space and decided that I would need something bright enough to counter the incoming light. This OLED won't cut it. LG's g4 probably can but i dont want to spend that kind of money.

That's true, if you can't control ambient light then just forget about OLED and get something really bright with good local dimming that will pop in daylight hours. I wouldn't even bother with the brighter OLEDs if it's sunlight you are fighting, that's a losing game and you won't benefit from what OLED excels at.
