I personally wouldn't buy a Japanese unit. No warranty on the hardware...and we know the joycons will drift away.
And, I've read where the 5ghz band is blocked because they use that band in Japan for government facilities. Not sure if that's true, but I wouldn't risk it.

Day to day it's been fine for us. How much internet are you trying to consume on a switch? It is possible to enable it but a hassle.

I have not noticed any negative effects after using a Japanese OLED model for over a year now. That said, we did that to get the TotK edition at a much more affordable price.

I have the JP brand and the only difference is the plug. i haven't have to change the language or anything. No problem with wifi or eshop purchases. New Joycons (OEM) connect without issue.
