The hinge of the lid inside the glass is made of hard plastic, but as long as you don't pour too much water that exceeds the MAX line, the boiling water never touches the plastic

I don't this specific one, I have the one listed as "clear" on the same page (has temp settings), but they look identical otherwise. I can confirm that the boiled water doesn't touch any plastic if used normally. The clear portion is glass, the bottom and under the lid are metal. I've owned mine over a year now.
