These are VERY old (2014ish) deadbolt locks. Many users report the batteries inside being corroded on previous deals. They also report they eat batteries every 2-4 months. I had this lock and can confirm you will be opening often to replace/recharge.

This is a 300 series zwave lock and traffic is unencrypted (if you care). It will work with any zwave hub but I had a lot of issues with commands timing out and failing on hubitat and Home Assistant (with nortek 500 and zooz 700 and 800).

It's hard to beat $20 for a lock but with the unreliable calls and batteries constantly dying it was worth it for me to spend the money on something better.

EDIT: And for anyone arguing battery life, check what version you have. The YRD210 "looks" identical to the Yale 216 (assure 1 model) with the only visible difference being the bottom row of buttons having check mark/gear vs pound sign/asterick.

The difference in 300 vs 500 series zwave battery life was several months for me as I owned both versions.

I'm confused. do you think people would hack their way into your house?
much easier to just bust out a window and open the door from the inside.

As I explained in a related thread, the traffic is not unencrypted. This lock has a ZW0301 zwave chip (attached is a photo of the module I pulled from my own lock, the same model listed in this deal), which supports S0 security. It doesn't have the latest S2 security level, but the S0 security in this chip uses the same as encryption layer for traffic as S2.

For further evidence beyond the comments in that thread, this air force military paper [dtic.mil] goes into great detail on zwave security. Starting on page 73, it shows the firmware they extracted from this exact chip module, including pointing out the sections of the firmware with aes encryption support.

Is this the same one as from a few weeks ago? They had sold out, but maybe back in stock.

How does it compare to Teeho in terms of ease of installation and use? The batteries in my Teeho last over 2 years of heavy use.

I don't own a Teeho lock, but I found this video of a Teeho lock installation [youtube.com], and the Yale lock installation looks almost identical. If you feel comfortable with the Teeho install, you'll be right at home with this lock. At least, in regards to the physical installation of the hardware. I didn't look up how the software is configured with the Teeho.

Yeah, I really think the pound/asterisk was a stupid design choice on Yale's part. Their checkmark/gear is much more intuitive. I wish I could change the keypad, but I took apart my two different models, and the keypad molds don't line up. You can't even just plug in the keypad from one into the main board of the other, as they decided to change the connector.

Bought this on the previous deal for $30. Returning because z-wave doesn't work. Connected it to ring which was fine but can't control locking from the app. Best to get a newer one if you need the zwave functionality.

Thanks for the helpful reply! I decided to wait for a sale from Teeho to keep everything consistent.

It's not clear to me which one you are saying has the 300 vs 500. Could you clarify please?
YRD210=300 and YRD216=500?

I bought this last time around. I took it apart and was able to spray paint it with silver metallic and it matches better now. Using it on my garage entry door. Works great with SmartThings.

I disagree. It adds a small but additional level of safety. If someone who doesn't know what kind of lock this is tries to enter with a code, they may not know which button to press to unlock. Every lock company uses something different as a level of security.

Looks like a limit of 1. I tried to buy second one for a friend, but it wouldn't let me.

So which model description doesn't have the battery issue? I've had 1 for over 8 years, and I just got 2 of these on the last deal. They all have and * and # and batteries last 6+ months.

For those who are concerned about the battery life - here is the graph on the battery level from my Yale YRD110 (Bronze zwave model, similar to YRD210 but no key) for 2023. Duracell. Home Assistant. S0 security. I change them approximately once a year when they reach 65%.
