MicroCenter has this for $669.99. And, if you find an open-box, as I did, you get an additional 10% off. So, open-box for $594.96, I couldn't pass it up.

Very nice. If I hadn't already bought a 16GB Sapphire Pulse RX 7900 GRE a couple of months ago, I would be frequenting my local micro center trying to replicate a deal like you got. The GRE is a beast and has easily handled every game I have tried so far. The GRE is between the performance levels of a 7800 XT and a 7900 XT from what I read while doing research before purchasing it. How has your experience been with the 7900 XT?

I was ready to buy the GRE, then asked about any open-box items. I'm so happy I did, as the price difference was about $55. I should be set for a couple years.

So far no issues. I'm running Pop!_OS 22.04, with kernel 6.10.2, and everything is very smooth.

I've played FFXIV and No Man's Sky thru Steam, and the visuals are great with all settings cranked up. I have an Asus 34" 1440 UW @ 144hz, so my next purchase will be to upgrade the monitor to higher refresh and OLED or similar, but I can wait for the monitors to keep coming down in price.

Sounds great. I have been tinkering around with ChimeraOS on a Ryzen 5 4600G on a machinist b450 motherboard with the integrated Radeon GPU. I only have tested with the proton emulation to run fallout 76, but I am very impressed. The AMD Linux drivers seem to be very robust. I am going to wipe the OS and install the latest version of ZorinOS Linux and then test out gaming through an apt installed copy of steam, and again through a flatpak steam install to compare performance. Should be an interesting experiment. The current state for gaming under Linux is fast approaching the tipping point for me to ditch running windows 11 on my gaming PC. Microsoft isn't helping the decision either, forced fake system requirements to block older but still very capable hardware from being able to install and run it, that can be bypassed, the attempts to force everyone to use a Microsoft account to use it that get harder and harder to bypass, the forced crapware app store apps that comeback after running any major update even after being uninstalled, etc.
