My new a9+ that came yesterday has Android 14 already installed, with 4 years of updates to come. The 8GB / 128GB model was $111 after trading in an ipad Gen 5 that no longer gets updates. Thank you, SD!
If you use it for taking note, s6 lite and s-pen is much better for writing experience. S6 lite also has really good battery . Otherwise, Ipad is better. I have both, s6 lite has somewhat yellowing tint for the display, it's also super bright to use at night when light off even on lowest brightness setting, it's also more laggy but writing is much more comfortable. Ipad is better on almost everything else i use.
I want a tablet for class, power point and writing ✍️, Samsung also has s9 FE for 400$.
Would you still recommend the s6 light over the s9 fe?
I believe the base ipad is also stuck at 4GB and 64GB

S9FE is much better than the S6 lite (2024). The S9 FE does go on sale periodically. Even during the recent Prime Day it was in the low $300's and it has been under $300 in the past.
I would say the S6 lite (2024) is closer in performance and specs to the A9+ which had good prices during recent Prime Day.
And mind you, the helio G99 is very middle of the road cpu for tablets. I'm used to iPads running flagship CPUs that are 4x more powerful than the helio
Update : someone shared old out dated information. The tablet features a 1280 processor. The geekbench score is slightly better than the A9+ but not by much but you can see the score here

The s6 lite has a multi core score on geekbench of like 1000 and the a9 is 1800. It's quite a big difference in performance.
Update. Someone shared out dated information. The s6 has a score of about 1900, so just slightly more powerful.
I second the S9 FE for $100 more, bought it during mothers' day for $298 at bestbuy price matched from amazon. Check the reviews and compare it. Way nicer screen and sound, 8gb ram, 128gb memory, comes with pen. Only thing is its not waterproof( i don't shower with my tab anyway).
Those videos are four years old, and this is a new release in 2024. There is not much improvement, however—slight improvements on CPU and Android (and probably how long the device will get support).

In that case
According to this it's actually a slight step up above an A9+. I'll go back and fix my post
