Collector wise id say Twilight has better hits. Don't know how old your kid is or if they would care about that though. Paldean Fates does have a cool Shiny Charizard chase card though but overall I like the cards from TM better.

Did a little research a got the avg of the top 5 cards for paldean fates and it's at about $63 while the Twilight masquerade top 5 card avg is ~$94.00. It's a newer set so the market isn't super flooded right now while Paldea Fates has been out for a while now (Jan. 2024)

Paldean fates has chance for shinies for the most recent gen new pokemon and stuff, so personally I'd lean that way. I Twilight is a little newer and I think has some more meta cards (maybe?), but I believe it's also a much bigger pool. If it's just for fun, i'd suggest Paldea for the shinies because even a non-rare shiny is still neat if it's for a pokemon you like (trying to get my poop beetle rolling a ball of solid gold poop still..)

Also, as always- Amazon doesn't have the best QC. Definitely inspect packs before you start opening to see if you can maybe tell if they've been tampered with. Even plastic wrap on the outside of the box doesn't mean you're totally safe. Repackers are assholes.

Gonna add to this, with it being a newer set and NAIC and World's coming up, some rares may not be up for sell just yet due to still being sent for grading, or being kept close for potential clout or trades and stuff at the event since they don't want to flood the market before they get to negotiate with other big collectors.
