I have a similar one (got from Costco several months ago). Yes 2.5 pounds. The only things I don't like: gets really hot really quick, battery life sucks, keyboard not the best IMHO. But can't beat the design, screen, weight -to-size ratio at this price point. 2 year Allstate warrantee definitely helps, especially at less than $500.. great deal IMHO

The eBay listing states this to have an IPS display but that's wrong as this model only comes with an OLED display and that's also stated in the official spec sheet by Acer: https://www.acer.com/us-en/suppor...01/details

I went through a lengthy review that compared the two models against each other and most functional stats ended up neck and neck and the higher screen res of the "older" model and the longer battery life of the "older" made me go with this model instead of waiting for the more powerful processor to possibly go on sale. I'm going to run tests and battery run time to see how the refurb performs.

I own this computer. I suspect they're refurbished because they have a lot of issues with them. Not the best build quality. That's why 2.58 pounds.

The newer version of this laptop has the much better 7840u, a 3.2k 120Hz OLED display, and better battery life. This is a good price, but I'd wait for a deal on the 7840u version as even that version is now one generation behind when it comes to the APU, so we should see good discounts on it. The 7735u just a rebranded 6800u, which is 2 generations old at this point.

The ebay listing shows "Display Screen Technology: In-plane Switching (IPS) Technology".
Are we sure it's OLED and not IPS? To be honest, I don't see OLED anywhere in the listing.

If you care to read the comments above you, I linked the official spec sheet with it stating this is OLED.

Rethinking this, just bought the intel version last week.

Which is a better deal?

Somehow, I missed that post. BUT, even Acer's own site shows this model (SFE16-42-R8WB) to be IPS:
https://acerrecertified.com/acer-...kh3aa-001/

Could it be they took out the OLED panels and put in IPS panels in the recertified models?

Specifically, the model on ebay matches the model on the Acer site that says it's IPS (and they're the same price).

I think the Intel was the better deal. 120Hz OLED. The I7-13700H is significantly more powerful. The Intel version has a PCIE 4.0 HD WD SN740 which tested around 5500/5400 R/W for me with Crystal Disk Mark. I had a stackable coupon so it was only $491 delivered.

This AMD model is one pound less than the Intel, very different machines.

Also, this screen has PWM at 239 Hz, which may cause issues for those sensitive to it:

https://www.notebookcheck.net/Ace...861.0.html

The display backlight flickers at 239 Hz (worst case, e.g., utilizing PWM) Flickering detected at a brightness setting of 50 % and below. There should be no flickering or PWM above this brightness setting. The frequency of 239 Hz is relatively low, so sensitive users will likely notice flickering and experience eyestrain at the stated brightness setting and below.

Thanks OP for all the great laptop deals you post. Cheers

Every single review of the specific model number states the OLED screen is a reality.

I went with AMD. Better Heat numbers, Battery runtime, graphics performance and higher screen res pushed me this direction personally.
