I ordered the same card, a Samsung Pro 512GB micro SD for $28.99 in Oct 2023. Is there currently a shortage of nand flash? Factory disasters like flood, earthquake, or flat out arson sabotage? It's quite a price hike from $28.99 to $44.99 in 9 months. It certainly beats the double digits inflation.

I recently purchased this for my GoPro Hero11. When I tested it on the highest video settings (5.3K - 60fps) the camera overheated in less than 5 minutes. The same video settings on my 512gb Sandisk Extreme Pro allowed the camera to go 17.5 minutes without overheating.

It lasted a bit longer on 4K - 30fps (15 mins-ish) and still longer on 1080p - 30fps... but still miles away from the performance of the Sandisk Extreme Pro.

Thought this would be helpful to some people...

With SD cards, it's Samsung or GTFO, in my humble opinion.

Reliability matters, even to you, Mr. or Mrs. I Don't Care Because It's Working Out Of The Box But 7 Months Later My Camera Stops Working At A Wedding, Guy/Doll.

Totally agree with you. Samsung is a level above the rest of competitors. As a result, Samsung think it can demand whatever prices they want. Nothing wrong with that thinking. I just don't buy anything if the prices don't align, ie. $28.99 is BUY; $44.99 is HOLD.

For competitors, I do like Toshiba very much, but Toshiba (now is called Kioxia) mainly does OEM. For example, my Google Pixel 7 Pro uses Kioxia flash storage. I also buy SanDisk products to help Samsung's competitor, knowing it's inferior to Samsung.
