Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank 222222

Although these are good-looking watches, keep in mind that according to calibercorner, the movement in these watches is BALL CALIBER RR1103
which is not manufactured by Ball, and can be based on either an ETA 2824-2 or Sellita SW200-1

Personally, I appreciate a watch with an in-house movement and avoid paying a good penny for movements found in cheaper brands like Invicta or Hamilton.

can someone explain to me why you would want to drop 800$ on a mechanical watch when you can get a top of the line garmin, Samsung, apple watch for under this price with way more features?
Because this watch won't be outdated with software updates and eventual EOD due to the internals not being manufactured anymore. I used to run a smart watch that was connected to both my personal and work phone. Switched to a mechanical and there's just something about having something on you that's not powered by batteries that's refreshing.

The movement inside of this watch will be able to be serviced for years as it's a common movement.

Because for some of us, the mechanical nature of a watch is something exciting. The fact that these mechanical watches are hand assembled, and also never require you to even change batteries is amazing. If you take care of your automatic watches, they'll last a lifetime and you can even pass them on to your children. It's not always about the features which you can always find in the latest smart watches. It's also about a fashion statement sometimes. Smart watches are dime a dozen today, but if I see someone wearing a great looking mechanical watch, it always captures my attention. Again, to each their own, but watch collection is a hobby for some people.

Yes, but these movements are easy and cheap to service

The Night Train should be pretty bright. It is also 800. Glows in the dark without needing to be charged with light.

I just bought a different Ball else I would have to look real hard since that is a pretty good price.

Its essentially a hobbyist thing. Same as owning a manual car or mechanical keyboard

You were downvoted but I upvoted you because it's not fair for someone to downvote you when you're asking a question. so yeah I place my Hamilton watch on the dresser and 3 days later it's stopped running. Not great huh? Now I gotta pull out my iPhone and reset the time and wind it up. But it's not about keeping accurate to the second time. It's partly a connection to a time when mechanical was all there was. Mechanical railroad watches were what was needed to run trains so they don't smash into each other. Mechanical ships clocks were used to help navigate the oceans. So you start getting into watches maybe as a connection to a grandparent who passed down a Rolex or something. Then you learn about the neat history of the Omega Speedmaster and how it was the only watch to survive NASA's tests for a space watch. Then you learn how the Rolex Dayton is based on the Zenith el-premiero only Rolex simplified the movement because it was too complicated for them. Or some Zenith movements that can measure time to a hundred of a second with just springs and levers.
It's appreciation for a craft that "isn't really needed anymore" but some are still not just keeping it alive but advancing it. You want advanced and "bananans"… Google "a lang and sone triple split timer" and watch the 20 minute videos and tell me you don't fall in love a little with watches

Please don't compare a Hamilton to an Invicta.

C'mon, don't be naive. It was a question that should have never been asked because that person already knew the answer.

I have never seen these before. They look nice and not as gimmicky as other Ball watches. Kinda wished the case was silver/stainless but hat would change the look entirely.

Here is another variation with black dial and blue bezel:

Can't find any YT reviews of any of these to get a better look. Anyone find anything?

No. Because it gets explained to people like you every time there is a watch post. Either you get it or you don't. Evidently you don't.

I could completely reverse the question to ask why you would want a "smart" watch that basically data mines your metrics.. too each their own

I wish that Ball Fireman Storm Chaser Pro would come back on sale. I guess they're all gone for sub 1k with bracelet.
