It is a good lesson, and one that is frequently repeated in Samsung phone trade in threads - ALWAYS record yourself testing and packing a trade in device for Samsung. Upon your almost certain denial, just hop into live chat and offer to share the video - odds are that the rep will immediately credit you.

Just an FYI. I traded in galaxy tab for the same laptop 2 months ago and Samsung rejected the trade in saying it's broken/cracked. I was 100% in senses when I sent the trade in to Samsung and was well packaged and also had a hard case on it. Now I cannot fight with Samsung saying I sent a clean tablet.
Not going to ship a trade in again. Learnt my lesson.

Update - called Samsung because this post reminded me lol.
Explained the situation. Customer rep looked into the videos and pictures of the trade in their side and confirmed the trade in was received in perfect condition. Getting my $100 back for trade in. Finally! Thanks for this post OP

This is a scam they pull. They're hoping you don't call them up. I've done 40+ trade ins with samsung and probably have had 7 or so that didn't qualify. Most of which, with certainty did not have the issue they claimed. I called them up and they proceeded with the trade in every time.

$306.84 is with EPP/EDU discount. The $322.99 price is for standard accounts
That's interesting. For the book4 pro, the epp or savings program have no affect on the price. Furthermore, by selecting the savings program, I lose the $50 discount from the app, unlike the web version, on the app I can't figure out how to exit the savings store to not have epp.

For book4pro, I get $822.99 regular, $781.84 with epp/edu (all on web browser)

Do you actually have to log into the account to see that price? It use to let you select the savings program and see the discount before logging in but eventually you have to log into the account to get the savings.
Also that's still more than the app price of $772. Can you see if you can combine the $50 discount on app with epp/edu? Which savings program are you using? Epp or edu or something else?

It is 822 before tax.

On the app, I did get the $50 off bringing it to $772.99 before tax so I still don't see how you got it down to 730.
Do we need to apply any promo code for $50 off? I don't see the discount on my app. Can you please explain?

Yeah I login, I have separate EPP and a separate EDU account. I dont get the $50 discount, I assume you mean the first-time $50 off $500 app purchase? It's not my first purchase so I don't have it

I think they initially reject trade ins. I too received an email only mine said the box was either empty or the item was not valid for trade in(knowing it was) Ater a quick chat they reversed the rejection and credited me with an apology letter noting the mistake. If anyone is planning to do trade in, TAKE PICTURES of the item and packaging. It will help in case they challenge. I did not have pictures, however, still had no issues. The rep mentioned that to me in case I do future trade in. Helps strengthen the case.

I did exactly that. Got the basic unit for 300ish plus 50 bucks trade in. It pairs very nicely with fold4 for for file transfers.

I just want to add that I have done multiple high value trades with Samsung and not had any problems whatsoever.

I bought the basic book 4 last time this deal was active. Never ended up picking it up from Best Buy after reading a lot of mediocre reviews.

Yup. Always recording everything and have photos and videos until everything is cleared and trade in is completed. I have done this since pre ordering note 8. Never really had problem until last year when I traded in an apple watch for watch 5 pro. Waited like a month till they sent me an email stating the apple watch I sent them was not factory reset. So they are going to charge me the $120 difference. At the time they gave me the option to get the apple watch back. So I selected that and also contacted customer service. I told them I did factory reset it and it was ready to pair with new device. I have video and photos I can show them. Customer service said "ok then when you get your returned trade in, you can send it back to us again to get the trade in discount" I was like ok. Waited for another 4 weeks and nothing came back, then one day I just got an email saying your trade in was successful.

Such high trade in value for an 11 year old device. Mistake?
