I just bought my kids new 20" and 24" Nishiki Pueblo bikes and was looking for old comparable deals on Slickdeals. It looks like these were a frontpage deal 7 years ago at $135. So $150 seemed like a pretty good deal these days and thought I would share. I realize these are steel and a slight step up from Walmart. But I am thinking the value is there for what kids would need generally. It sounds like swapping the shifter, handles, and handlebar pin are some easy upgrades. There are some adult bikes on sale too.

I'm not saying this isn't a good deal, because it is, but I feel like these bikes are this price fairly often or for fairly long durations. I say that because we bought one of the 20-inch Pueblos on July 6th and it was this price then too.

I haven't seen many deals for Adult bikes in a while, though I don't have any deal alerts setup or anything.

Are there any current great deals on a Men's bike anywhere? Unfortunately my bike knowledge is very limited, but I see Dick's sale is only for mountain bikes, and I stick to the road/sidewalk/paved pathways like 98% of the time. My current bike feels like it weighs 100lbs, so I've always been interested in a lighter bike, but then again it's not like I'm picking it up a lot or anything, just riding on it 🚴 so maybe the fact that my 20 year old bike is built like a tank is not really a bad thing.

These might be OK deals, but check over these bikes before your kids ride them. Dick's is NOT a bike shop and bike assembly is severely lacking. My neighbor's kid was riding her new Nishiki 24" bike past my house and the chain fell off both the rear cassette and front chain ring because the rear derailleur had improper tension, was misaligned, and had improper upper and lower limits.

I don't see any hybrid bikes. Is this sale for mountain hikes only?

bikesdirect.com offers the best prices on any type of bike. Over the years I have purchased a road and cyclocross bike from them which I am still riding.

I don't know who downvotes this but it's good advice. Bikesdirect has a much bigger selection of styles and sizes than you'll find at Dicks, will be cheaper unless you get some end of season clearance at Dicks, and either way you should take the bike to a proper bike shop after purchase to get a tune up by a trained and experienced bicycle mechanic. The bikes sold at Dicks aren't the best and they definitely are not any better than what you can get from Bikesdirect.

Most likely both come out of the same factories, and you will likely get better components from BikesDirect. Sorry to sound like an advertisement but they are the best bang for the buck, just don't expect the same resale value you'd get out of a Trek, Specialized, etc. You can also get some decent builds from Poseidon, State, I'm sure some other direct to consumer brands although they have a smaller selection.

Honest question, how much has bike technology changed in 15 years? Im looking to spend around what this one is - less than a thousand and ideally more like 700, and it seems like there are few options in that area. I generally find more seem to be really cheap or jump to like $1500 for something "good".

In mountain bikes, there has been a massive change from 15 years ago. The entire geometry is completely different, by orders of magnitude. And all of the specs have changed, meaning almost nothing from a 15 year old mountain bike could be installed on a 2024 mountain bike except grips and pedals.

If you are looking for something other than a mountain bike, I am not the expert in other bike styles, so I withhold commenting.
