I just bought my kids new 20" and 24" Nishiki Pueblo bikes and was looking for old comparable deals on Slickdeals. It looks like these were a frontpage deal 7 years ago at $135. So $150 seemed like a pretty good deal these days and thought I would share. I realize these are steel and a slight step up from Walmart. But I am thinking the value is there for what kids would need generally. It sounds like swapping the shifter, handles, and handlebar pin are some easy upgrades. There are some adult bikes on sale too.

Are there any current great deals on a Men's bike anywhere? Unfortunately my bike knowledge is very limited, but I see Dick's sale is only for mountain bikes, and I stick to the road/sidewalk/paved pathways like 98% of the time. My current bike feels like it weighs 100lbs, so I've always been interested in a lighter bike, but then again it's not like I'm picking it up a lot or anything, just riding on it 🚴 so maybe the fact that my 20 year old bike is built like a tank is not really a bad thing.

Most likely both come out of the same factories, and you will likely get better components from BikesDirect. Sorry to sound like an advertisement but they are the best bang for the buck, just don't expect the same resale value you'd get out of a Trek, Specialized, etc. You can also get some decent builds from Poseidon, State, I'm sure some other direct to consumer brands although they have a smaller selection.
If you are looking for something other than a mountain bike, I am not the expert in other bike styles, so I withhold commenting.
