I have the 75" QD6 (Costco) version of this TV and use it in the basement gym. The QD6 has a 60hz panel, whereas this has a 120hz panel.
The sound is great and I honestly don't have to turn it up past 20/100.
TV is very bright with SDR content.
I'm actually going to sell my 75" version and upgrade to this 85" version purely because of the 120hz panel and primarily watching sports in the basement gym. Don't really care about dark scenes/blooming as I'm not watching movies in a dark room.
This or wait for another partner store deal for the LG C4 77" at around 2k?
That decision depends on your viewing distance, ambient light, and priorities.
If you buy the hisense you might regret not having the best pq, if you buy the c4 you might regret not having a bigger or brighter screen.
If you're seating is close enough that the 77 seems big enough (like 8' from the screen) and if you aren't competing with daylight coming through windows, then maybe you won't regret having something bigger.
I bought a Sony 77 oled over a year ago now, my regret is that the 83" oled wasn't in my price range.
I had a hisense before that but returned it as I wasn't satisfied with backlight uniformity and scaling quality. If I was more concerned with daylight viewing the hisense would have been better, being significantly brighter.
its super bright, image quality is excellent , and it does run at 120/144hz native
image quality is same as u7k so i returned the u7k and kept this one
I have posted review on bestbuy.com with pictures to show image quality difference between this vs 75" 6030k set i got last year
No, I'll break it down for you instead. I've taught Economics for nearly 20 years. Many adults have very destructive buying and financial habits. I promise you, there are "real" needs in front of all adults, but they do not recognize them. Any investment you can make that replaces a financial drain, is a need, not a want. For example, a Large deep freeze, is a need. You stock up on sale items, in a year, you reduced food costs 30%. But, most adults don't do this. 85" TV, replaces going to the movies. Coffee machine, tumbler, a need. It replaces Starbucks. Buying a Google 8 Pixel Pro now, new unlocked, @ 550 vs $1,000 a launch, a need. How, easy, you wait 9 - 10 months and then buy your flagship phone. Mint Mobile 12 month @ $180 for 5G and 5GB date. Those two buying habits, "needs" save you $1500 a year. But, most adults won't do it. I could give you many needs that easily put $5,000 back into your bank account annually. This applies to anyone. I have dozen more examples of real "needs." I'm actually the guy you come to if you want to figure it out. The forumula is easy. It's a "need" if a purchase can replace a finacial drain. Good luck.
Almost everything you posted is a "WANT".
None of those are "NEEDs".
You can drink tap water instead of coffee.
You can don't need to even own a TV or go to the Movies.
But folks WANT Coffee.....
They can spend more or less to get Coffee which may impact the quality and enjoyment.
Your entire family COULD sit around and stream free movies on their phone over Free WIFI sitting in the parking lot outside starbucks.....
Or they COULD pay for their Own Wifi in their own house and have a viewing device bigger than their phone.
They are ALL wants to make life a little better.
It's how we prioritize our wants.
And yes...If you Overspend on Wants...It could impact ACTUAL needs such as housing, healthcare, transportation to work to earn money for other needs.
I have an Hisense A6 TV that is about 3 years old. From March 2024 the TV does not work at all. The picture is still perfect but the TV "runs out of memory" and turns off in less than 30 secs. There is no recovery method for this. I tried clearing the memory, uninstalling apps, resetting the TV to factory settings, etc. but it shows that it is being done (all those times that it keeps itself on for over 1-2 mins), but at the end nothing actually happens and the same apps are still installed the same amount of memory and cannot factory reset the TV.
I am quite interested in this TV to replace the existing Hisense 85" A6. I am though struggling to pull the plug because of the above Hisense experience and also because I am thinking that there could be a much better offer during Thanksgiving for a Sony or LG or Samsung TV of a similar size.
