I have the colored ones of these. They are good. But the blades are now getting dull after 4 years of usage. Need to find a place to sharpen them. I have a knife sharpening rod but I do not know how well it works after rolling the knife against the rod's grooves. But I would rather find a local store who sharpens them. Overall they are sturdy. Holding up very well.

I have had the colored set for 3 years. Still holding up despite the warnings of chips. I sharpen them with this tool https://www.amazon.com/AccuSharp-...ef=sr_1_6? and have never had an issue. Just run it along the knife about 3 times and it's good to go. Alternately, quite a few local/regional grocery stores have a free service at the meat counter where they will sharpen your knives as a good customer service gesture.

Those rods will hone your knife but does not sharpen them (despite its name). Honing just means that it straightens out the blade edge, which does help make it easier to cut. Unlike honing, sharpening involves actually grinding/shaving off metal to restore dulled or chipped blades. Honing is definitely good for maintenance, but will do next to nothing if your blade actually needs to be sharpened... and inexpensive knives like these do need to be sharpened more frequently.
Sadly I am one of the people that had the coloration come off of the set from 4 years ago(?). They were a good set, but when there were very small green specs in the meat I was cutting , they immediately went into a box and into the trash. I'll try the non-color set.
I'm glad I got this set colored, as it makes it so much easier to quickly know which one you're grabbing without even having to think, and since I don't breath through my mouth, I haven't had a single issue with any kind of paint flaking off or anything, as I only hand-wash them with a soft cloth.
