The answer to this question is size and weight. All other factors are null. FF lenses will always be bigger.

Does it still make sense to invest in a M43 system at this price point? I feel like FF systems are just so much superior with wider lens options, and you can get them for less.

FF is not "superior", just different. They're also typically more expensive. Yes FF is usually used in pro cameras, but there are some awesome crop sensor cameras even in pro models. I love my Canon 7DII. Fast burst, low noise. If anything, crop sensors are more compatible because they can use FF lenses without vignetting. That doesn't make them superior, though. FF is also usually larger and heavier. It all depends what you need.

Get a G9M2 (Hybrid Phase Detection and DFD AF), if you have that amount of budget and are willing to stay in M43 ecosystem.

I will wait for a better price because I have an Olympus E-M1 Mark III that was $800 on here. I would wait for a good refurbished model. Olympus has refurbished sales 2-3 times a year.
I get maybe 5 texts a year https://explore.omsystem.com/us/en/outlet though it looks like they moved it to eBay.

M43 has tons of lens options available https://cameradecision.com/Olympu...III-lenses. You can also get adapters for other brands (Cannon EF completely works in my experience with my SIGMA 150-600mm EF lens on a Viltrox adapter). I've yet to find a situation that I can't get a lens for.

I have the Mk I and love it. Very fast sequential shooting.
Video is surprisingly good. And M43 is underrated for very light and good lenses. OM Systems is leaning into the outdoor niche with weather sealing but I think light carry is a real strength that's overlooked too much. They need to put their updated tech into a Mk II Pen-F. The original is way overvalued on the secondary market for its age because it's cool. They have to look at the popularity of the X100VI and notice people want that retro rangefinder style and M43 lenses fit that so well.

Rant over. This is a great deal.

why bother when the G9M2 is available...
the PDAF use to be the reason for you to get olympus, but with G9M2?

M43 is a fabulous system. I've been using it for years. Absolutely love the (relatively) tiny lenses and amazing quality shots I've gotten. I currently use the Panasonic G9M2 and love it, but the additional features of built-in ND filters for landscape and in-camera focus stacking for macro photography on the OM-1 Mark II are extremely compelling. Olympus (now OM Systems) has excellent color science in their cameras, dating back decades. It's no wonder there's still a lot of happy M43 users!

Ha, I'd just posted right under your comment, but it was more centered on M43 as a format... I currently own the G9M2 and love it... its advantages over the OM-1 Mark II would be the extra megapixels, cheaper price, better video and slow-mo capability, and perhaps better user interface (though OM systems has made big strides here). The OM-1 M2 has additional advantages such as better buffering of high-speed bursts, quicker focus acquisition, built-in ND filters, and in-camera focus stacking.

Both are great, it just depends what your needs are.

I have the mk2 along with a few zoom lenses. I sold all my Sony ff gears including gm lenses. Personally, mft system met my needs as I was looking for a super zoom ranging between 600-1200mm. Due to the crop factor, I can easily purchase a lens with that range whereas it would cost much more for the ff system.

I am a hobbyist, so people's needs may vary, but for sports, graduation, wild animal photos, mft system met my needs.

For this price range, which FF body is not superior to this? For simplicity, let's stick to still photography.

I don't have issue with M43. I just have issue with M43 at this price.

Agreed, everyone is different. I went the other way around, now shooting with an A7CR and mainly small/light f1.8 prime lenses.

For wildlife, macro, maybe sports, I'd choose MFT, But I am more into landscapes, low light/astro, people, and love thin DOF even with inexpensive lenses.

Good to have all those choices. Wish Olympus/OMD had improved smaller cameras like the EM10 series...
