My system takes a 24.88"L x 19.88"W x 4.38"Th filter, I wonder if I can make these work since they are 24.56"L x 4.31"W x 19.88"Th

There is an exact Honeywell size and I've found 2 other brands. This is close enough probably and way less than the $60 I've been spending on a 2 pack.

wait this is for inside of the furnice/ac? i have a air filter on the ceiling that i replace every 3 month.. but i don't think i have 4" clearance on it...

Be sure to check the exact size of your current filter. I recently bought some Filtrete 4 inch filters because there was a "4 inch filter" in my new house. Come to find out it was actually closer to 3.75 and the Filtrete was 4.25…

You are within 1/4" length-wise, and 0.07" on height, so it should fit without dropping into your system if that's what has you worried. Worst case you could tape some cardboard from the box they ship in onto each end to make up the 1/4" difference.

I'm a bit a novice at this and hoping someone can help educate.

How critical are the internal dimensions (19.88 x 24.56 x 4.31) as compared to the outer shell dimensions (20x25x4)?

I'm currently using this [amazon.com] (18.84 x 24.75 x 4.38) and picked up these [amazon.com]on Prime Day (19.5 x 24.5 x 3.75).

Also, MERV 11 vs. 12. Thoughts?

That might be a little overkill for "allergens" If we are talking pollen, animal dander, and that sort of thing. A MERV11 filter will trap 85%+ particles of that size and stepping up to MERV13 would be if you needed to filter smoke, bacteria, or airborne droplets from a sneeze.

You also want to make sure that your filter doesn't drastically increase the static pressure in your system and cause it to wear out sooner.
