As others have noted, the battery life is not great with this. You can change settings around to extend the battery life but you sacrifice features so there are trade offs. I got this bundled with a solar panel charger through a deal about a year or two ago and have been decently happy with it. The solar panel works great as an option for the battery variant but I found out the hard way that this is extremely dependent on the physical location you can mount the panel and where the sun is at different times of the year. It may seem like common sense but a tree next to my sunroom all but blocks constant sunshine for several months out of the year and I would need to physically remount the panel to a new location to avoid this. Most of the year, simple adjustments to panel alignment are all that is necessary.
Another quick note that I found out the hard way; the lens on the front is surrounded by a plastic lip. You would think this raised lip would protect the lense. It does not. If you are setting this up, DO NOT set it face down on a hard surface. It will rest in the very middle of the lens dome and cause I mini scuff. That scuff will add a slight blur in the center of the camera image. I couldn't even see the scuff on my lens. I only discovered it after going to clean off what I thought must be pollen or dust.
Can you get 24/7 recording with this, if you hardwire? Or do you have to have the actual hardwired version to get 24/7 (nest aware sub already)
I have this hardwired and its been running for a year with no issues. I don't know what you mean by "24/7" but i have it setup to record every time there is motion.

Because I bought a ring before, but I returned it because it was filled with water.

I bought one on amazon and it died before being one year old.
Amazon was no help but thankfully the warranty had just expired within a couple of weeks and google was nice enough to replace it.
I would buy at authorized retailer or at least get some kind of extra warranty.
