You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but there are, in fact, a number of highly rated gaming monitors that use VA panels.

They have excellent contrast and are well-suited for dark rooms. Subjectively, my primary monitor uses a VA panel, I've been very happy with it.

Be careful buying these. They're refurbished/renewed by Acer but I think the way they "refurbish" them is to check if they turn on and that's it. I bought the exact same one on a deal from few weeks ago here:
https://slickdeals.net/f/17611485-refurbished-acer-34-ultra-wide-curved-gaming-monitor-21-9-wqhd-165...

Came in a box. packed so so with some bubbles, no cover on the screen or styrophone molds. The monitor usually turns on and shows logo. Sometimes it turns on but shows no logo at all. It doesn't pick up any signal from any input, just says no signal on everything, i tried multiple cables and all work fine on two other monitors but not on this one. I already contacted support and they're unable to send replacement, they can only offer repair or return/refund. So I'm returning mine.

Someone posted a link to it on Amazon, read the reviews. Another person has the exact same problem.

It's crazy how prices on these monitors has dropped. 34" 1440p 165hz gaming monitor for <170. Just a few years back these things were minimum 300. After inflation and its still a fraction of that price is insane! Great deal for anyone who is in the market for a ultrawide.

I'll always say it, VA monitors are awful for gaming and that's why they're so cheap. The amount of ghosting and blur I had from a Samsung G7 just made me return it and opt for an IPS. Don't use VA for gaming. Anything else, it's better than IPS

Is this one better than the one in the OP?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/27547592...Swr09jMUb9

It has better reviews on Amazon. Seems the only difference is that the one in the OP has a slightly higher refresh rate (165hz vs 144hz) but the other one has "AOPEN" which claims to reduce eye strain and is "flickerless".

Does AOPEN actually have no flicker or is it just a marketing gimmick and is no different than the monitor in the OP?

Isn't the blur from low refresh rate?

My VA was a 165hz and side by side with my 7000 hours of use ultragear ips 144hz it was very very noticeable. Colors were way way better though

I bought this last time it was posted, only the left half of the monitor turned on. They accepted the return, but I'm too wary now to pull the trigger because of how they "refurbish" these.

But if it's "certified refurbished", then it shouldn't be a risk; that's the complaint.

Also received mine recently and the monitor is in great shape. Have not noticed any issues with the screen so far. There is some foam stuck in the edges but oh well. Two things I have noticed:
1)Speakers are atrocious. Even a downgrade from my previous monitor's built in speakers. Any remedies to improve sound with system controls?
2) I am only seeing 100hz refresh rate option on my monitor settings in Windows. Did Acer pull a fast one and send this similar model? https://slickdeals.net/f/17611641-34-acer-nitro-eda343cur-1440p-100hz-curved-monitor-190-free-shipping?src=SiteSearch
