I've been looking for some metal beds. I'm not sure about growing food right up against galvanized steel. There can be lead with the zinc coating. I think I'd line it with a plastic sheet. No telling what is in a coating.

I'd buy a handful if they were taller, 18" or more. Some grasses and mugwort still come up in my 18" beds

It is totally fine! The big "no" is to treated wood.

Plastic leeching? I have 1ft high raised garden, it's not really raised that much but holds the soil in place, majority of the soil that feeds the plants come from underneath, also unless you get really crappy quality plastic I doubt you can get any plastic in your produce. Is there any study you can point out about plastic leaching into raised bed produce?
As usual for this forum completely incorrect.

The plastic doesn't leach, the plasticizers, which are short chain hydrocarbons, that keep plastic flexible can readily leach into the soil.

The amount of lead leaching from the zinc plating would be about 10 thousand times less than the native lead levels in garden soil.
