This is for hard-wiring the camera to your fuse box if you don't want ugly dangling cigarette lighters all over your car. Includes a variety of fuse taps.
1) Pick a fuse between 10-30A
2) Original fuse you removed to put in add a fuse must be added to the bottom slot (closer to the legs of the add-a-fuse)
3) Use 2-5A fuse for the camera
4) DO NOT tap a fuse that provides critical car components. Use fuse for car radio, cigarette lighter, maybe windows.
5) ACC (yellow wire) goes to a fuse that is off when car is off
6) Red wire goes to an always on fuse.
7) Black wire goes to a metal nut for grounding.
I got this one a while back. It's been great, I did have to switch out the SD card once cause it stopped working. One thing I thought is pretty cool is that it takes a pic automatically if it feels any bump that it thinks is a hit. Usually happens if I go over a bump or small pot hole. The video resolution is good, and it does give an option to display speed. The only thing I don't like is that the back camera keeps falling though that might be my fault. I have to reapply it.
I have a vantrue dash cam going on 6 years now. The freezing cold maine winter hasnt killed it yet.. capacitor is better than battery for the extremes.
I had a Vantrue a few years ago. It had no screen, everything was done through the app. The app wouldn't connect. I returned it. This one appears to have settings and stuff on the screen so it shouldn't have that problem. Still, I'm wary of a device with a 2.6* app.
I bought an Aukey dash cam a few years ago for like $40. It's been great. Most dash cam enthusiasts will tell you to buy viofo if you're going to spend a lot of money on one. Check out the dash cam subreddit for real recommendations and reviews. Vantrue used to be the go to for Uber drivers but I think that has since changed.
so this is really useless in that situation. no camera needed if your co worker rear ended you. clearly her fault. and you already know who she is
Actually the dashcam is good to have for rear end hits. I didn't have one and was hit lightly. I felt it, my son felt it... it was minor very low speed (i was stopped at light, she probably on phone and let off on gas). Anywaysm cops were called because she was saying the scratches on my bumper were there already. Stupid officer actually write that into the report that there might have been prior damage... no tickets issued. At the end he insurance denied it and i got dinged in making a claim to fix the light scratches and creases in my bumper. I think if i had a dash cam recording the rear the outcome would have been different.
I recently purchased this Vantrue E3 Dash Camera, and I couldn't be more pleased with its performance. The video quality is outstanding, capturing clear and sharp footage both day and night. The wide-angle lens ensures that I have a comprehensive view of the road, which gives me peace of mind while driving.
One feature that stands out is the user-friendly interface. Setting up the camera was a breeze, and navigating through the settings is intuitive. The camera also comes with a handy mobile app that allows me to easily download and review footage on my phone.
The built-in GPS is another excellent feature, providing accurate tracking of my routes and speed. This has been particularly useful for documenting long trips and ensuring I'm always aware of my driving habits.
What really impressed me is the dash cam's reliability. It automatically starts recording when I start the car and has a robust loop recording function, so I never have to worry about running out of storage space. The motion detection feature is also a great addition, offering extra security when my car is parked.
Overall, the Vantrue E3 Dash Camera has exceeded my expectations in every way. It's a high-quality, reliable, and feature-packed device that I would highly recommend to anyone in need of a dash cam.
