I have the knipex cobras, but I don't have these. I do however have both the knipex and wiha plier wrenches. Although I think the finish quality on the knipexes are better, as a tool, I think I prefer the wihas (but it's not a wide margin).

If it's even close on these pliers to the cobras, I'd get these, as the price can't be beat.

Doesn't always spell junk. If the Parent company tells the chinese company how they want them made, materials, tolerances, the product can still be excellent. Chinese manufactures still compete against each other, for contracts. I agree, if it was made in Europe, I would have more confidence in the product.

Just spend a bit more money on the Knipex, one of the best tools you can ever buy. I absolutely abuse my Knipex pair and use them constantly, they still work like new. Probably the only tool I would ever shill this hard for. If you want to cheap out get the harbor freight version, they at least has a lifetime warranty, wiha only does a year afaik. All the water pump pliers that aren't Knipex are generally pretty similar and I wouldn't be surprised if alot of them come from the same factory just rebadged.

Don't pay any attention to that! They are just a great general use pliers. The way they are designed those teeth just bite into almost anything. The more pressure applied to the top or right arm the harder it bites. They will leave a solid bite mark if you give it hell but they won't slip unless you wear down the teeth, but since it's a good quality brand, it should last you forever. I absolutely love them, way better than channel locks. These are heavy duty so that would make channellocks medium duty in my opinion. I've had channellocks fail and skip channels, and the teeth aren't as sharp and they wear down faster. Not as good of quality.

But I really wish people would stop pointing that out if you're getting at buying stuff from China is bad or it is bad quality because both points are useless and worthless. Literally 98% of things we buy in United States are made in China. Just go look for the made in China logo on the box it came in or the little sticker on it or the engraving. And as far as the stigma that every tool that comes from China is junk is 100% not true. They have their top tier and middle tier and lower tier, quality tools, AND knives by the way. Most Americans just love buying cheap and crappy budget Chinese tools. And they love it. But that's not what they're using to assemble iPhones and Lg and Sony TVs. Wiha pliers are made in Vietnam, not China. For some reason, Amazon incorrectly defaults to China for all German brand tools.

I don't equate China with junk but rather China as a country I don't want to financially support if I don't have to. Seems to me most items are built for replacement quality so I'd rather do business with US companies or strong US allies when possible.
