Theoretically you get the exact same tool at the end, that you can sell for say $100.
Total cost to build in America: $50
Total cost to build in China: $20
Numbers made up obviously just to give example.
High tariffs on anything imported from China would theoretically push that cost closer to $50 to encourage companies to manufacture in the US instead, where simply advertising as Made in America will fetch a higher price. Not quite that easy since there will be upfront cost (molds, equipment, etc) to build a manufacturing facility in America. Awarding these companies money to build, in order to encourage manufacturing in the US, however, brings that cost down.
It's so easy on paper. Then there's the sad reality…

There are also some Knipex tools that say they are made in China on their Amazon listings that I know for certain are made in Germany.

How much insight and spoon feeding do you possibly need that I didn't already give? I don't see you making any type of insightful post giving a reason why you should buy these over any other brand. Because to me, they just seem like an overpriced afterthought with bad reviews and a crap warranty if you do your research.
I would buy wiha screwdrivers but probably nothing else, same thing with knipex but only water pump/wrench pliers
