I have this in my classroom (I work with neurodivergent students and it can make an excellent "destimulation chamber") - it works great in an indoor setting but too much motion inside and it will close up. You definitely need the outriggers to hold it open. Otherwise no issues in two years of being used almost daily (again in an indoor setting). I suspect there is a YMMV since a lot of the wear coming to something like this is coming from setup and teardown, storage, and UV.

Possibly. The first generation Sport-Brella used cheap ass brittle plastic at the tips of the umbrella spokes. I hope the newer generations improved the quality.
