Keep an eye out. I've bought the one I linked in 120V for under $400 multiple times with eBay codes.

Can I add a 2nd head unit to this? I know theyll be the same zone, but I have 2 bedrooms on the far side of the house that are about the same size so I think this would be enough for them both,

I got our landlords to agree to give us one but they want to install it to make sure they don't have to pay the $30,000 or whatever people are charging around here. Which means I think I need the dummy proof DIY version. Would be great if there was One under a thousand dollars that was something we can just follow the directions on and everything's included to make it work. We do have it 240 line but where we want to install it there's a 120 line right below it.

Cheap condenser all around (small and light). Lower efficiency. Limited fan/capacity variability. Aluminum line set. Poor heating below 20* (shuts off below 5). No wifi.
So you would skip this model?

costway is made by aux?

also wonder why no ahri on those, those are required for the energy rebates. not knocking they could have it, just didn't see it listed (costway does though on their models).
I don't think any of these cheap rebrands qualify for rebates.

cheap doesn't matter just has to match seer and ahri but this is from *my* local power company....i got rebates on variable speed chinese pool pumps too only had to be energy star certified, 450 bucks vs a $1900 pentair PLUS contractor install to have a valid warranty....yeah take a hike on that...but i get it, look at your typical consumer duh who wants to mess with that crazy! anyways..., after a 350 rebate pump 100 bucks.will they last as long? no but first one going on 4 years, other has been a year. Meanwhile that 1800 bucks a+ contrsctor cost is earning returns in the 401k and investments which has returned 2fold...opportunity cost can be significant over time due to compounding long term.

heatandcool has decent prices on goodman units, supposed to be daikins but i'm not sure and the linesets aren't included and pretty expensive but about price of pioneer. That said i dunno about these either i'm not sure who's made by midea, daikin, tcl,etc need about 7 units so well worth buying em cheap and letting em rip and hope works out as well as the variable speed pumps. Some i need /want just for hurricane backup cooling so don't gotta run a 5 ton, one older family member to cut her utility a bit, other i got a place i jerked the central out and would rather have individual rooms coolled with occupancy sensors,etc..

Can the inside unit be mounted vertically? Maybe with some modifications?

No, simply because the unit is designed to have the condensation drip to the tray and then use gravity to drain it. You are better off looking for a different type of inside unit. LG has some that look like picture frames, floor mounted units, or ceiling mounted.

I just started out doing mine/friends/family. I plan on buying a nitrogen tank soon. I'm not really concerned about my connections, but coils leaking, so that's my incentive for pressure testing. Right now I just make sure the flares are good, nylog and tq to spec (and of course vac). I have 6 that have been installed for over a year and work perfectly.

I got a micron meter, but haven't used it, yet. I guess I should do that on the next one 🤣
Definitely use that Micron Meter. I did mine and just ran the vacuum pump for an hour and made sure there were no leaks. I didn't evacuate the system down to 500 Micron's and I was redoing the install a year later.

13' line set is pretty short. Basically enough to mount it immediately on the opposite side of the wall and the same level.

Thanks but the thing is that I need one shaped like a normal one that mounts on the wall but vertically so we can put it in a corner between 2 windows. I don't think anyone makes one that can be mounted like that so I'm thinking about buying a cheap one, like this, and modifying it myself.

It's all rebranded intertek. Almost all these mini splits have the Intertek name on the wattage and BTU sticker.
