This is my first post so sorry if I missed anything. I just got my 2025 Leaf leased yesterday from Boulder Nissan and the price actually is $9/mo. 24 month, 10k miles per year lease. This is the cheapest monthly I've seen in CO.

Total costs:
Dealer fees + sales tax = $2300
Optional damage coverage = $600
Lease return fee = $320

Why are people so determined to be in denial? On top of the millions of chargers people have at home, it won't be long before there are more public EV chargers than gas stations.

I wish I could be one of those people with chargers at home. Or even own a home…

That's not how leases work in most states. You typically only pay sales tax on the portion of the lease you pay. I.e. down payment or every month with the monthly payment.

On top of that some states don't charge sales tax on EVs.

That scaremongering only works on ppl as uninformed as you. Prior to the massive deficit CA had last year, they had the largest surplus ever. The swings in state revenue happen because tax revenue is collected in part by a capital gains tax. So when the markets do well so does revenue and vice versa. They've also set up and strengthened a rainy day fund paid into every year so the deficits don't break the bank. And the state has already balanced the budget to address the current deficit. You should be more worried about your own state finances than California's. But nice try, I'm sure it works on some people.
The market is up 100% over the last 5 years. The difference was the loss of $50b in covid money from the federal government from 21 to 22

Co state was like 8000 ev credit on top of the federal. My awesome backwards red state you have to pay money to them 300 dollars a year to own one.
The credits you crave are deducted from someone's paycheck. The word credit implies a positive when in fact it is a negative and taking away, a forced transfer of wealth from some to give to others. Most of the that wealth is going to The EV makers and China. A upscale urban crowd does benefit but again by way of taking form people that have less income than they do. EV welfare for the rich would be a better description. The Walmart clerk, roofer and carpenter subsidize the urban white collar professional and bureaucratic class.

We also know that all that pretend dollars printed to hand out those credits also cost by way of inflated prices on everything for everybody. That cost has people homeless unable to find a place to live and not able to afford food or heat

I can only wish that my state did not take money from poor working people to subsidize their crony friends and upscale crowd that is so into the current thing. We have massive poverty and few jobs for just that reason and then they tax again to fix it. It ends up a never ending cycle of decline with productive people fleeing the area. In my state in particular this green deal stuff is rife with backroom deals and government crony capitalism. 30% of our green money subsidies taken from the working people goes to places that burn wood and trash and a good percentage of them we do not even get energy from.

I'm a bit concerned the tinfoil hat conspiracy crowd is here. So many deny widely reported and sourced stories and in your case even public earnings reports from major automakers.

Ford just reported a massive loss on every electric vehicle it sold
https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/24/bu...index.html
Quote :
New YorkCNN —
Ford's electric vehicle unit reported that losses soared in the first quarter to $1.3 billion, or $132,000 for each of the 10,000 vehicles it sold in the first three months of the year, helping to drag down earnings for the company overall.
Ford, like most automakers, has announced plans to shift from traditional gas-powered vehicles to EVs in coming years. But it is the only traditional automaker to break out results of its retail EV sales. And the results it reported Wednesday show another sign of the profit pressures on the EV business at Ford and other automakers.
The EV unit, which Ford calls Model e, sold 10,000 vehicles in the quarter, down 20% from the number it sold a year earlier. And its revenue plunged 84% to about $100 million, which Ford attributed mostly to price cuts for EVs across the industry. That resulted in the $1.3 billion loss before interest and taxes (EBIT), and the massive per-vehicle loss in the Model e unit.
Ford Lost $130,000 on Every EV It Sold in the First Quarter
The Blue Oval reported an 84 percent drop in revenue in its Model e electric division.

https://www.caranddriver.com/news...s-q1-2024/
Quote :
Ford reported a net income of $1.3 billion for the first quarter of 2024, a figure largely bolstered by the success of the company's Ford Pro fleet division and the $3 billion it brought in—more than three times that of the internal-combustion-engine-focused Ford Blue arm. The Blue Oval's battery-electric–oriented Model e division, however, remained a drain on company funds, losing $1.3 billion for the quarter—around twice what it lost during the same period in 2023. The company blamed "industry-wide pricing pressure" in its first-quarter earnings presentation.

That's just how leases work. You financially screw yourself every possible way, and you're happy to sign the dotted line.
Not completely true. I get a new vehicle every 3 years never have to worry about any kind of maintenance or tires. My payment is lower than buying a vehicle I never put money down. It's not for everyone but it works for me.

u have to include those fees into the monthly cost. this is why when you lease you should never ever put anything down and focus on the resulting number. more straightforward.
That's good general advice but it's still looks like an incredible deal.

I can understand that very little as it leaves you with a lifetime of monthly payments and no equity in anything at the end. I have seen others get in great trouble doing the same with constant car payments. I can't imagine any financial positive plan where it makes sense. I'm 61 and have only carried a car payment for a few years at most. The math works out to me being near a $300,000 loss in I consider a $2500 yearly lease

100% of what you say may be made up. There is plenty of news and hard data that shows EVs may not be the best choice for anybody and are not the pipe dream many were fed. The complete industry is kind of a mess. You have to separate reality from the political based messages you have been fed.

Why all the down votes on news facts? Must Flat Earthers, can't see/accept the evidence in front of their face. Lol!
Or perhaps that is why they can't see it because they are looking at it too close to their face. 😆 lol.

Yet in toxicology "poison" has very specific meaning. We don't label water as a poison for just that reason. Show me a can of water labeled as poisonous and I will concede the point.

By your logic we are putting poison in beverages. Do you believe that our government allows soda makers to poison us? Do you believe concert goers are being poisoned when the CO2 clouds roll from the stage?

The oxygen you breathe is actually a much more dangerous and reactive substance and again that is not a poison. Even in the rare cases where CO2 has killed it is not by way of poisoning but by way of displacing required oxygen. That is not a lethal dose of CO2 it is death by lack of oxygen. No one has ever been poisoned by CO2.

If it was a "poison" you would think that with increased levels we would see something harmed or killed but we see the earth getting greener. We also know that when CO2 levels were five times higher nothing was poisoned by it. Your quote and definition is not meant to bring clarity or define but to confuse.
Ever heard of narcosious? (Spelling) it is CO2 poisoning caused by deep scuba diving. Yes one can die from breathing CO2. But your statements still hold mustard or water.... CO2 death is caused by dilution/displacement of O2.

It is matter of faith for many. They have just listened to the proselytizers and leaders of a faith and take it in wholeheartedly and anything counterfactual to the claims they take as blasphemy. The religious impulse is strong in people and can be a very good thing but many just use it as a kind of ego boosting mob mentality to go after perceived enemies. You see they are the good people and other of different mind are ignorant and going to kill the whole planet. Hence we get a shopping site acting more like a church of true believers ready to crucify anyone that shares facts that goes against their faith and belief.

You have to plan everywhere you go. Even in a Tesla. You just can't go far
Using dc fast or slow chargers are just as expensive as filling up at the pump
Coming from a ioniq 5 owner who leased
Get a PHEV that has 500m of range.buy it and refinance it , when rates come down. If Brandon is elected forget about it.

soon PHEV will get 60m of range and now even the rav 4 prime has a heat pump for car camping.
resale will be a lot higher over a 4 to 5 year ownership vs any Tesla or pure ev car.
range is everything. and is convenient.
repair costs and insurance way lower .

I am a Ioniq 5 limited owner

If you are leasing, then whats the sales tax? Do you get refund when the lease is over?
You pay taxes on the sale price before rebates. Just like anything else you buy that has rebates. $2000 tv from Best Buy? You pay $2000+ tax. Then you take it home and get $600 rebate? You've paid $2000+ tax - rebates. The dealer sells the car to the leasing company for $10k - rebates. Your taxes are based on the pre-discounted value, then you have state fees and crap. But we're talking about peanuts for a car right now at a time when cars are getting more and more insane.
