This is a wiha set. Still great quality. Wera might be considered a step above wiha. Both German companies. Some wiha is outsourced, some made in Germany. Not sure if any wera is outsourced.
If I recall correctly, Wiha isn't really outsourced. They built their own factory in Vietnam to produce some tools, like pliers and these driver bit sets, to try to maintain their standards at a lower manufacturing cost.
My Wera driver set was made in CZ. So nearsourced I guess?

How does this compare to the Amazon Basics version? It seems very similar, but with more bits for cheaper. I am looking for a multi use small bit screwdriver I can use on computers occasionally, but mostly things like security screws.

Wera are top quality tools. I have this set and love it for precision work.

This Amaz comment gives me concern..."The bits are great hardened super durable BUT THE DRIVER IS LIKE polymer or whatever and the bit when turned hard enough will twist in the driver slot and get stuck in there. Now I can't get it out to change bits...at least not unless I get pliers and scratch up the bit etc."

Anyone else experience this?

The security bit set is back down to $27 too.

They had a coupon yesterday, but it disappeared before some could pick up the deal. Now no coupon, just lower price.

Full sized Wiha screwdrivers are the only products I'm aware of that are still German made; the rest of their lineup seems to be made in either Vietnam or Taiwan now.

I'm not aware of any Wera tools still made in Germany; their screwdrivers are made in the Czech Republic and sockets/ratchets are made in Taiwan.

Hazet and Stahlwille are two excellent brands that to my knowledge still produce the bulk of their tools in Germany, however the prices can be prohibitive. I think Knipex has the best value German made tools, especially if you wait for a sale.

I don't think these small bits are worth the extra for the brand. Anything small is still going to wear out quickly. Definitely won't last a lifetime unless you barely use it.
It is absolutely worth it if you do work with these types of precision drivers. My Wiha Y000 picofinish driver seems like it would be really fragile because of how dainty it looks, but it's been going strong for about 6 years now. Wihas are definitely worth the money over other kits, like iFixit (which rounded on me in less than 6 months).

I just bought a 1.8mm Wiha flat screwdriver for my watch band and it's made in Poland.

Wera VDE stuff is still made in Germany (or was last time I looked). That's about all I'm aware of.
