This was FP at $25 from Woot, Amazon, and Walmart (third party). It's now down to $20 at Walmart (third party) [walmart.com].

The LN1301 is the non-mesh non-app version of the MX4200. OpenWRT support is in the works and bootlogs there show that it's actually better than the MX4200 because it has 1GB flash and 2GB RAM [openwrt.org]. The PCB assembly otherwise looks the same as the MX4200v1. The difference in flash and RAM likely means that trying stock MX4200 firmware won't work though. OpenWRT will be more up to date and offers a lot more features including mesh, vlans, etc.

It's 2x2 AX on 2.4GHz and one 5 GHz radio. The other 5 GHz radio is 4x4. It is Qualcomm IPQ8174 based and has 4 gigabit ports and 1 USB 3 port.

Why? I guess it's a cheap stand alone router?

Loading the v1 openwrt squish renders the device inoperable with a solid red light. Forcing a reset back to std fw works. I guess that means I have the v2 they're working on, don't really feel like cracking it open but I just might. The guest wifi doesn't work when on bridge, which is the only way I use these things, preferably AP mode, but this things stock fw only works as a transparent wifi bridge, SSID exists, but once you connect the AP doesn't really exist as a host.

Openwrt devs are working on support for this device since it has bigger flash and ram than mx4200 v1 and V2.
Guest wifi only makes sense for an ap if you have vlans or some other way to separate the traffic back to the router. Otherwise the guest and regular traffic mix together and can access each other.
