Already paid for annual subscription plus it's a hassle to replace/re-mount my outdoor cameras…I have 5-6 ring cameras sound the house. It's a pain to switch.
I've had the Ring Alarm since the very beginning and also grandfathered @$100 a year, but that will end for everybody next year and will double in price in 2025.
I'm seriously considering other brands that actually offer longer recording times and/or SD card support. The 2-minute recording max for Ring is woefully INSUFFICIENT and pretty ridiculous if you ask me. You can miss out on VERY critical security footage with such a short recording limit.
And also higher resolution cameras should at least be offered. Low frame-rate 1080p is just not good enough in 2024 imo.
For people who still use ring. Any reason why you still stick with ring, considering they're 1080p when other brand offer 2k and up?
Ring video quality is kind of crap and most of my cameras are Wyze. Their doorbells are very good and reliable though so I stick with that. I have a couple of supplemental Ring battery cameras in places where I don't have power. What is nice with the new Amazon Hub is that as far as I can tell Ring is the only camera that works with that in the sense that it constantly uploads snapshots of the cameras so my doorbell and other Rings always show up on the screen. My Wyze cams quality is just amazing and my pan cams are so good, also my floodlight cams.

I'm sticking with ring myself because the annual subscription price includes professional monitoring with their alarm system. I'm on their grandfather rate though so might consider switching once that's over.

which wyze cam you use ? also does it have subscription fee ? I am trying to find some good camera to use around the house. especially the front and rear garage area with flood lights ?
Amazon blink subscription. $2.99 monthly. For one camera though 🤷🏻 ♂️.
Will Blink call Police? Ring will call police, most home insurances will provide a discount for having Ring professional monitoring 24/7 (grandfathered for initial subscribers) also you can add any number of cameras for effectively $8.33/month.

I have a mixture of the regular Wyze cams, the pan and tilt ones and the floodlight ones. They are honestly pretty amazing for how cheap they are. I even have one of the Wyze cams on a window using that window mount they make and that has been going great. I pay for the subscription for both my Ring and Wyze, I don't care, still a hell of a lot cheaper than something like ADT.
That's how much we used to paid ADT for 2 months of service. $100 is 12 months of security monitoring and for me is 10 cameras of clouds service. Plus lifetime replacement. They also replace the unit with the latest model. It is truly a great deal especially you want monitoring service.
It's not theft at all—it's quite a bargain at this price point. I've been using them for more than 5 years, and it's been great.
The real price for a new subscription is $200. Even at that price, it's still cheap considering the full support that comes with it. If they call and you don't respond, they notify the police.
They've called us every time our smoke alarm went off, without fail. Once, they even alerted the police when we weren't home because the alarm was triggered.
Also, if a device stops working, they replace it for free. The alert quality is top-notch.
Any comparable system, like ADT, costs way more. It's the peace of mind that makes it worth every penny.
