Given that the VFAN Mini is smaller in both overall size and blade diameter, but weighs more, performs similarly to the bigger fan, and has similar noise levels despite higher RPM, my guess is that it is constructed with better materials.
The VFAN mini has a smaller diameter blade (4.85" vs 5.9"), spins faster (1650/2300 RPM vs 1400/1950 RPM), and blows less CFM on low (239 CFM vs 254 CFM) but slightly more on high (360 CFM vs 350 CFM). Noise ratings are similar (36/43dB vs 36/44dB).
