350 nits on sub-$200 very functional CB device is great, but alas this doesn't have touchscreen -- a key portion to make it useful for students/android apps.

Seems like a decent chomebook that does everything except for touch screen and is under $200 out the door INCLUDING a 2 year warranty. Can anyone chime in with personal experience on this model, or experience in general to chromebooks? Mine CB is about 3 years old now and is having problems with the Wi-Fi as it will connect to WiFi without issue, but constantly looses the data feed (while remaining connected). Have been unsuccessful in fixing the issue and it's making assignments 4X as hard to do because I constantly have to power cycle the unit or disconnect WiFi and re-add the network every single time.

I replaced Chrome OS with Windows 11. I bought this same laptop a few months ago when it was on sale from the same seller.
Wouldn't recommend unless you're comfortable taking apart the laptop a little, changing out the eMMC m.2 to a regular m.2 2242 form factor, and disconnecting the battery cable in the laptop from the motherboard and booting with wall power to disable Chrome OS write protection.

Here's the guide I followed for this exact laptop: https://coolstar.org/chromebook/w...ice=Taniks

Thanks for this. How was the quality of the laptop from this seller? Is it used or almost like new? Any scratches or scuffs?

It basically looked brand new with no scratches or scuffs. I didn't see any dust either when I took the bottom off to change m.2 and disconnect the battery, though I could've just gotten lucky.

For me, the 8GB of RAM is the deal breaker otherwise with the hack posted above to get Windows on here, plus drive replaceable M.2 slot would make for a good budget laptop for the kids.

For kids this is great as is. No need for all the bloat on Windows.

1. Not manufacturer refurbished
2. Only 1-year warranty
3. Vipoutlet is mostly crap.
But yeah go ahead, give yourself a treat with that.

eMMC and M.2 are two drastically different things.

Apparently in this case, they put eMMC in a M.2 slot that you could swap out with a SSD. Or at least that how I read his comment.
