If a burrito is over $10 it should come with free guacamole if you want it. These places are now nickel and diming the customer for everything now. Actually I should rephrase that and say "dollaring and five dollaring the customer for everything now." My bad. I really think this next recession is going to be a deep and long one. Everyone has their heads in the sand just like with dot com bubble and the housing crisis.

YMMV on quality and portions with Chipotle. Our local store is mostly good with portions for online orders. Personal preference is to get guac on the side and mix as needed.

Qdoba is priced slightly higher but includes guac and queso for free.

Everyone is right to call out the subpar quality, small portions, and terrible price.

But, is there anywhere that is still a decent value/size in 2024 for quick service? I'm looking for ideas, because I've basically stopped eating any/all fast food/quick service these days (value/quality reasons, not health reasons.. tho I guess that's a plus lol) and it would be nice to have an idea of what is still good (or at least ok) when I need it in a pinch.

All of their menu items used to cost considerably less, right before they made all toppings "free". It was like a 30% price increase after they did that. Which at the time seemed like a ton (this was before inflation was bending everybody over; some time before 2017).

Wendy's is hard to beat on price if you order on the app. I can still get the 4 for $4 in my area. Fries in that can be upgraded for like 35 cents. And you can use one of the other app coupon offers. YMMV.

Steak is nearly $10 a pound, minimum wage for fast food workers is $20 an hour in southern California. Where do you think there is profit margin in a $10 burrito to be offering you a free $2 avocado?

Good luck making even a burrito with guac at home for under $10.

Kudos to Chipotle and all these places for making people believe avocados are like gold and that they are justified in ripping you off for it.

I actually had burritos a couple nights ago with fresh avocado slices in it, cheese, chicken, fresh salsa and lettuce. I think the price per burrito for my family comes in around $3 when I calculate all the items I bought.

I definitely give credit to these Mexican places for making people believe they need to charge over $10 for a burrito to be profitable. Last I checked Chipotle profits are massive and I own the stock so my thanks in advance to everyone that patronizes this place. You will help me retire faster.

Cool, how much is your rent? How much is your electric bill? How much is your insurance? What's your cost to acquire and deliver supplies? What's your cost to repair and maintain your equipment? How much of your time did it take to prepare and clean?

I've never had an issue with online orders. You can select "extra" for any of the toppings for the entrée. My bowls are always massive...easily a meal and a half.

25 cents might even be on the high end. Go to Southern America, avocados grow as fast as weeds and are massive. Chipotle has enough market leverage to have a steady supply for the lowest possible prices.
