I imagine that some people with significant back/disk issues may not be able to effectively do squats, but could benefit from this as a substitute.
If you plan on going for 3 years 5 days plus and you have the space it is way worth it to build your own home gym. I'm only missing 2 more peices of equipment and I'll have everything I would use at golds gym and I get to keep it all for life and for my kids. Plus weights never seem to go down in value.
You are definitely correct from a pure dollar perspective, but if you take into account your time, the home gym can be worth it.

No wasted time driving back and forth, no waiting for equipment you want to use, and you can get other things done in between sets (load the laundry, organize your desk/garage, etc). My favorite one is that my daughter hangs out in there and talks with me in between sets, giving me more time with her.

Get a cage, you can do this and more, if space is tight.
I'm not in the market for this, but I would like to know what you mean.
Is this a good example of it?

If I had to guess, I'd think he means doing squats over leg presses. Since they work the same muscles.

One thing to note is the one you linked is only good for 360lbs. The dedicated version above is rated for 1,000lbs. Not endorsing either, just seems they are in different classes.

I haven't used these,. It seems like you would slide back, plus weight angles get weird. I have a leg extension plate loaded machine which I love but minimal resistance at the bottom, but I can adjust the start point . It has greatly improved my legs without knee pain. One of the problems with leg press at home is the insane amount of weight needed plus space is usually an issue. 315 is a good squat, 315 leg press is awful

I think you could solve the sliding issue with a strap connected from the cage to the bench. I would love a dedicated machine, but the space is an issue for a single function machine. For me, the cage mounted press can't hold enough weight for me to use it. It does seem like they could have went higher if they used better material. My J-hooks can hold far more than 360lbs, so why stop there?

That's a lot of money for a machine that only does one exercise. Is it worth it?

That's how machines are in general. IMO unless you're almost solely powerlifter (squat, bench, deadlift) or have disposable money on order of mid $xx,xxx range and space for equipment, home gym isn't worth it.
If you actually use your gym membership, it's genuinely a great value.

Wish I was rich enough to have space in my home for leg press machine. Besides that, I'm not sure this is a good product or not but I had plenty of problems with big stuffs from walmart. Whomever that outside delivery company often fail to deliver all parts somehow and walmart always refuse to solve problems.

Honestly if I wasn't paying $20/m for 24 hour fitness plus other gyms (Wellhub/Gympass) for their gym, pool, sauna, jacuzzi and AC I would be on the market for this and have my own home gym already. This is much cheaper than most other ones on the market.
