I haven't used these,. It seems like you would slide back, plus weight angles get weird. I have a leg extension plate loaded machine which I love but minimal resistance at the bottom, but I can adjust the start point . It has greatly improved my legs without knee pain. One of the problems with leg press at home is the insane amount of weight needed plus space is usually an issue. 315 is a good squat, 315 leg press is awful
you won't slide back, the weight hold you back. if you have a planet fitness nearby sign up for the 1 day trial and give it a try.

Get a cage, you can do this and more, if space is tight.
I imagine that some people with significant back/disk issues may not be able to effectively do squats, but could benefit from this as a substitute.

For a home gym I'd be looking for a press/hack squat combo. Ritfit makes one for around this price.

The best leg machine I've ever used was an Iso-Lateral Horizontal Leg Press which allows you to build up those stabilizing muscles also. I recall shaking after a few reps as it's a much better workout.

Honestly if I wasn't paying $20/m for 24 hour fitness plus other gyms (Wellhub/Gympass) for their gym, pool, sauna, jacuzzi and AC I would be on the market for this and have my own home gym already. This is much cheaper than most other ones on the market.
Weird flex.

there's also the Syedee alternative that's 200$ cheaper and has a 1500 lbs limit instead

$20 a month is $240 annually and $2,400 over 10 years. $2,400 will buy almost no commercial-grade equipment. You would have one or two pieces of equipment. If you buy cardio equipment, you can spend that on a treadmill or elliptical alone. If you buy a good rack, you will spend that for the bones and you would still need to buy the plates and bars. So, your home gym might be a little bare...

That's how machines are in general. IMO unless you're almost solely powerlifter (squat, bench, deadlift) or have disposable money on order of mid $xx,xxx range and space for equipment, home gym isn't worth it.
If you actually use your gym membership, it's genuinely a great value.
I built my home gym for around $1000 and it has almost everything id normally use at a gym (mainly free weights, of course).

This stuff will last a lifetime and I find I can work out way more consistently in my basement than I can at a gym now that I have a family.

I just wish I had a fly machine. Dumbbell flys really don't do it for me.

I've maxed out my gym's dumbbell rack on some lifts let alone a home gym. I've heard some of those adjustable dumbbells can get pretty heavy but most I've seen are like 50-60lbs max and I can row 125 for 10 reps

First off, a 24-hour will not cost $20/no in 10 years. I don't have anything like that around me even now and I don't live in a rich area.

If we're talking weight training, you can do a lot with a rack, adjustable dumbbells, barbell and weights. Throw in a lat pulldown bar and you're really in business.

Powerblocks get you there or more. Mine go to 90.

I have a lat pulldown attachment that I use for row and can go as high as I want.

My comment had nothing to do with not being able to build a home gym for less. It had to do with comparing $20/month to use limitless commercial-grade equipment to saying that money could have been used to buy a home gym. If he's serious, just start building a home gym. Excuses are easy. Muscles can be made just fine with adjustable dumbbells and/or kettlebells. You just have to know how to use them and how to train. A rack is not even needed. Too many people get hung up on training like bodybuilders and have no understanding of functional fitness, diet, kinesiology, and physiology.

Single-leg leg press is amazing for quad development and you don't need a crap ton of weights if you do them correctly. Anyone that has a home gym shouldn't be stressing on the costs of plates. You can buy bumper plates for sub $1/lb these days.
