From what I gathered:
Most of the customers that left a review had a very short amount of time with it, so hopefully they were able to return (though I feel bad for the disabled person that may have had a hard time taking it back).
The majority of the mentioned problems were that the adhesive failed on the lens (Not too bad, either return it or repair later with a better adhesive).
A few mentioned failed LED's, which is not uncommon for a product with lights. It doesn't seem like an egregious amount.
A decent portion complained that it can't be disassembled to send back because the base locks on (personally, if it's already broke or faulty, I would just snap the light with my shoe and make it fit in the box before spending $20 at UPS as one person did).
A complaint that it wasn't as bright as the floor lamp and the arduous process to assemble it and still be disappointed ( I'm pretty sure they just didn't read that the table lamp is ~1/2 the brightness of the floor model).
Overall, I don't think the one stars hold much weight in this instance. At the original +$200 price point, they would weigh heavier on my decision. Ultimately I bought one of each. If they suck, that's just wasted money for the retailer at that point when they eat the shipping.
For this price, I like the idea of a higher quality LED for my projects that isn't one of those spring loaded contraptions (that eventually fail). And I really love that they have sliders for dimming and color temp. I hate all these lights that want me to use an app to make adjustments. That just means that I have to hope the chain doesn't break to dim a light (phone, app, wifi/cell signal, home internet, router, end product).

I hope it works out for you though.

Trying to think of how to get it to stay on without me holding it. Might have to solder on a new DC connector.
