There would be a much bigger market if Apple made its products repairable, but they won't. I never had good experiences with their used products unless you buy directly from the Apple site.

As a Total member, BestBuy doesn't seem to stand behind their own certified refurbished products by including the 2YR BB warranty. If I buy any used open-box laptop or iPad that they have barely looked at, let alone cleaned, I get a 2YR warranty. Seems odd.

As a Total member, BestBuy doesn't seem to stand behind their own certified refurbished products by including the 2YR BB warranty. If I buy any used open-box laptop or iPad that they have barely looked at, let alone cleaned, I get a 2YR warranty. Seems odd.

Good point, and a solid reason not to get this refurbished model. I am planning to get my mom and stepdad an ipad as he hasn't been able to walk much and spends a lot of time on his phone now.

If you're a Total member, definitely wait for a good Open box deal so you get the free 2 YR AppleCare+.

My son has the 9th Gen and it's solid though after a year's worth of use the battery is already significantly degraded. All he does is watch YouTube and occasionally plays kids games.

Warranty on these "Geek Squad Refurbished" units is 90 days. I went in for the M1 Pro for $504.00. I'll check the battery on the iPad when I get it to make sure it's nothing odd.

Because Apple replaced the case and the battery - true refurbished product that comes out essentially like new. Other resellers are just selling product returns and open box demo units. They are not refurbished, they are used.
