You can activate phone #1 to have the bundled 1-yr and units loaded to it. Then activate phone #2 WITH A TRANSFER from phone #1; service on phone #1 (phone number, 1-yr, units) get transferred to phone #2, then the bundled 1-yr and units for phone #2 get added on top, giving phone #2 two years of service and 2x the units.

If you're currently using a phone on TF, your can activate phone #1 WITH A TRANFER from your current phone to have your current phone number, days, units transferred to phone #1, then the bundled 1-yr and units for phone #1 get added on top. Then activate phone #2 with a transfer from phone #1. After that, if you prefer to use your current phone, re-activate your current phone with a transfer from phone #2. Smart existing TF users do that all the time to "harvest" cheap service days and units from those HSN/QVC bundles.

Folks, just so you're aware...

The service plan is 1500 text, 1500 minutes, 1.5gb data -- for the *entire year*. Not per month. That's about 4 minutes of talk time per day.

It's an extremely minimal and restrictive cellular plan, one that you could even call insultingly low - especially if you're used to cellular plans in modernized nations (aka, ones outside the the USA). It's not for everyone, and make sure it fits your use case.

No need to be insulted - for many people (for example, those who use less than 4 minutes of phone talk per day) paying $2 (and sometimes less) per month for a phone service which includes a new smartphone every year is a very good deal.

Couldn't you activate the first phone and keep the same number--use that new phone for a day---then activate the 2nd phone and keep the same number---then wait a day or maybe do it sooner and put your old phone (Galaxy S) back on your plan via website?
You are right, that is the only way I could think of, all I need to do is buy one more BYOD Sim for $1, because TF at times does not allow to re-use the old SIM sitting in my Galaxy S phone. I was trying to avoid moving the number 3 times and getting a new SIM, but looks like that may be little longer route but much safer route. Thanks for your input.

They must really like you. I've never received any such offer.
Same here. My wife and I have used TF continuously since 2001. I've got a lot of free phones from TF by doing their TF Rewards Program, but were never offered free phones on the service anniversary dates.

Yes, the first two steps are easy and can be done by DIY; but the final step needs CS agent to do something is what little scary. All our family members including this one I am talking about is part of TF / Verizon network.
Only solution I can think is what "wealthisachoice" suggested, you can see the details in my response to "wealthisachoice" in the next post
Yes, that's possible, but as gmxno said, TF sometimes does not allow reuse of old SIMs. My solution is to combine the service on the two new phone first (almost no risk), then contact TF to transfer combined 2-year 3,000 TTD (some risk), to keep using Galaxy and existing SIM. I have been using the script to chat with TF to combine services many many times successfully. Most times I could tell if something might go wrong (verification to wrong phone, alert on wrong phone, long wait, saying not possible to combine without also transferring the phone number), so I simply end chat and try again. (I also have a list of bad agents, and will end chat as soon as I see the name. Not necessarily the same person, but I don't want to risk it.)

$50 for two years or $25 a year is about the sweet spot for a yearly plan. One lesser known feature about tracfone is that they offer discounted phones at your annual anniversary. I've gotten a $20 iphone se recently and some even for free in the past. At one point I had 4 active lines and they all qualified for free new iPhones.

I too have never been offered free or discounted phones based on TF service. I do get a lot points through the Rewards Program and use them to redeem phone discount coupons for free or almost free phones.

the reason TF offered free/discount phone was only targeted to ATT Tmobile sim card users after they were purchased by Version. they were trying to kill all ATT tmobile sims.

Active the 1st phone by keeping your Mint #. It will ask for porting information. Once it's ported to TF, follow this guide [reddit.com] to combine service to the 2nd phone, which will have 3,000 TTD for 2 years.

That's not the reason the original post said: "they offer discounted phones at your annual anniversary"! I also didn't know TF offered free/discounted iPhones to switch from TF/ATT or TF/T-Mobile to TF/Verizon. I have only seen lower-end android phones being offered.

I know it's always a risk asking a TF CS to fix something. Following the guide [reddit.com] to transfer your existing service to 1st G Play, and again from 1st G Play to 2nd G Play will add 2 years and 3,000 TTD to your line. It's probably OK to transfer everything back to Galaxy, especially if on TF/Verizon network (TF may allow reuse of a TF/Verizon SIM). However I haven't done it before so don't know for sure if DIY works.
Have reused a sim a couple times, seems ok if it stays with the phone it was used on.

Yes, either free or discounted phones. I don't know exactly when they offer heavy discounts, but I've been able to get great deals on phones through their site every year or so. For example I just recently ordered an iPhone se 3rd gen for $20 for a line that has been active for a couple years on these cheap qvc plans. I didn't use tracfone rewards. The discount was simply on the phone line itself. I suggest everyone check the tracfone site once in a while, especially if you've had an existing line with them for over a year.

Will it work with ATT sim card after unlocking?
Yes, 5 of the 6 bands ATT uses in the US are available to the hardware, so you should be good. It's list near the bottom of this page
