You can activate phone #1 to have the bundled 1-yr and units loaded to it. Then activate phone #2 WITH A TRANSFER from phone #1; service on phone #1 (phone number, 1-yr, units) get transferred to phone #2, then the bundled 1-yr and units for phone #2 get added on top, giving phone #2 two years of service and 2x the units.

If you're currently using a phone on TF, your can activate phone #1 WITH A TRANFER from your current phone to have your current phone number, days, units transferred to phone #1, then the bundled 1-yr and units for phone #1 get added on top. Then activate phone #2 with a transfer from phone #1. After that, if you prefer to use your current phone, re-activate your current phone with a transfer from phone #2. Smart existing TF users do that all the time to "harvest" cheap service days and units from those HSN/QVC bundles.
Folks, just so you're aware...

The service plan is 1500 text, 1500 minutes, 1.5gb data -- for the *entire year*. Not per month. That's about 4 minutes of talk time per day.

It's an extremely minimal and restrictive cellular plan, one that you could even call insultingly low - especially if you're used to cellular plans in modernized nations (aka, ones outside the the USA). It's not for everyone, and make sure it fits your use case.
No need to be insulted - for many people (for example, those who use less than 4 minutes of phone talk per day) paying $2 (and sometimes less) per month for a phone service which includes a new smartphone every year is a very good deal.

If you transferred service recently, did you do it on website or on mobile app?
Which Browser you used for transfer?

I'd prefer website, but it looks like website is simply not maintained: people say balance check not working for a month, chat is broken (besides a few minutes).
Trying to avoid a hassle with service transfer.
Thanks

When you resell the phones, do you have to remove them from your parents Tracfone account first so that your buyers can use the phones?

I have an inactive Tracfone on my account (and many other tracfones collecting dust) that I would like to give away. But wondering if they will not activate for people that I give them to if they are still associated with my account.
Once I activated the phone, I just turned off the phone and put in drawer until it is unlocked. I chatted with support to switch back to my old phone next day.

So I just need the phone (basically used a wifi text device). Can these be used without activating on TF?

Thanks, just want to make sure I shall choose this option:
"Keep Your Own Phone
Unlocked phones you're bringing to Tracfone."
correct?

Again for context: I'm doing service transfer from TF phone/SIM 1-year plan to 3rd party NON-tracfone phone/BYOD SIM.
Right. It's the way most long time users do it - using the website. Your transfer is nothing different than what I've done numerous times over the past 10+ years (TF to BYOP or BYOP to TF branded, makes no difference).
Just follow website instructions & enter requested info, it's pretty simple.

No, the real insult here is that nearly everywhere else in the modernized world, you'd get a LOT more for these prices. This might be a bargain for those who only are aware of USA mobile plans, but in the big picture, it's a joke. And even more so if folks don't realize it.
I'm interested in your experiences in the developed world. Can you link me to a few examples of the kinds of deals you're referring to? This is two low-end phones but they're 2024 models and include chargers and cases. It's also two phone plans. Obviously you might not find a similar two-phone deal overseas, but I imagine you can find a much better deal for well under half for a single phone.

We should also note you can get the deal for $50 if you're a new customer to QVC.

If I transfer min/text/data to another phone as soon as I receive these phones, can I later unlock these phones after 2 months? Do I need to wait for 2 months to unlock then transfer min/text/data?

Wifi either costs you money, or you're depending on someone else's handout. It's inconsistent and unpredictable. If you're willing to rely on someone else all the time, by all means. I didn't realize this wasn't a culture of rugged self-determination, but instead of one begging for handouts.
Handouts? It's a free service many establishments provide. No one's panhandling for wifi at the stoplight. Do you only use pay toilets and your bathroom at home?

Meanwhile, this guy is talking about Xfinity home service, which gives you access to wifi hotspots all over the country. It's also not a handout. It's a service. And he talks about this tracfone plan, which he also pays for.

What a crazy post.

Any phone can be used as wifi device, just turn off cell connection so you don't get activation reminders.
Phones will never unlock if you don't activate - and since phones come with service you might as well use it. There are plenty of choices available for less if you just want a wifi device.

Yes. I agree the prices in US for data are exceedingly high. But you have to factor in the area needed to be covered by the plan for US. Most of the other countries are the size one US state.

Thanks that makes sense. I wasn't sure if there was proprietary software that forces activation. Speaking of which if, I do activate, do I have to keep it active for the entire year?

Read above that it takes 60 days to unlock. Can I just cancel after say 90 days?

There's really nothing to cancel since each phone already comes with a year of prepaid service to use as you wish. You can use all of it in 2 months and not buy any more if that's what you want and then port out the number or just use on wifi.
Might be helpful to read up on how TF works before buying.

Keep in mind that texting does not work if data gets over IMHO. Can others confirm?
On my Tracfone Moto E data is turned off. 1.5gb can go fast from random apps in the background.
Txts DO WORK OK in my case. No data is deducted.
I think MMS also work but you need to turn it on in the settings of the phone...if I remember correctly. Hope this helps you decide.

Most of my phones are activated after 1 year minimum. Once I think around 2021 I was past the expiration date and had to call customer service and after bouncing between inept customer service reps I gave up and surprisingly someone somehow was able to make it work after the call. Though I would highly recommend not to go past the expiration date.
What is the expiration date you are refering to?
Is it a SIM card date?
TIA

You can DIY [reddit.com] to transfer service from an active phone to the inactive one. May not be necessary, but you could chat with CS to remove the inactive device from that account first (CS will send a verification code to an active line in that account first). If you only have the inactive device in that account, you can't remove it by yourself or by chat, simply use the DIY to transfer. Note you may not be able to log in to an empty account later.
Worth mentioning that an account with no active line looses all rewards point I believe after 60 days.
Anyone knows otherwise?
I lost 12000 points back in 2021 because I did not extend the service after 1 year and did not know about this plus later on they showed that account as does not exist.
BUT when I tried to get referal points for new line in 2024 and using that same email everything miracurasly
showed up again so that they would not give me referal points since now AGAIN I became an old customer for their ill purposes. So any used email is retained, don't reuse it for rewards referal points!!!
