Since I am not sure where everyone landed in that exchange - this is a brushless drill, which is a good thing for power and battery life.

This specific drill is listed as brushless on the Dewalt website, also, it says brushless right on the side of it.

More info:
"20v Max" is kind of their entry level tool line (older designs)
"Atomic" is newer tools that are usually more compact, a good value for DIY.
"XR" is the top of the line in DeWalt tools. Stronger, though they may be a bit larger than Atomic.

Seems like a good price. For my money though, $10 more for the same battery and charger for a more recent, more powerful, and smaller drill would be the better bet: https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWAL.../322138372
and if you are Mil/Vet HD gives another 10% or $10 off this better item making it the same price as the OP item.

Do they ever sell these drills without a bag and say for 20-30 bucks less?

From a Reddit post:

Max refers to the maximum voltage of the batteries (20V Max) and nothing to do with a specific line of tools. When fully charged, the batteries output 20V, but the average measured voltage under load and any time after that is 18V, which is the actual voltage. It's a marketing trick to make people think mo' power is mo' better, when in reality it's the same as Ryobi, Ridgid, Milwaukee, and so on.

The kits that include the charger usually include a bag. you can buy "bare tool" which doesn't include a charger, battery, nor bag. Bare tool SKUs will have a "B" at the end in DeWalt item numbering. The "D" in this kit is the small battery, and "1" after the D is the number of batteries included. This is probably more than you care to know, sorry.

Yet it's an "XR" battery, weird.

I have a very silly question. I bought the screwdriving bit set that's 1/4 inch instead of 1/2 inch. Is there any adapter that allows me to use the bit set with this driver?

This drill has a pretty universal 3-jaw chuck that'll accept any bit from about 1/16" on the small side to a max of 1/2" shank size. 1/4" driver bits will be just fine (but if they're the 1" long ones you might have to use a magnetic bit holder, which was probably included in your set).

I picked up one of these during last SD promo. Fantastic drill, battery lasts forever. Generally I use the drill daily but only here and there for general household DIY as well as on furniture refinish and build for my side business but I seriously get about 3 months of use off one full charge. In my opinion it's a fantastic drill. Not sure what to do with all the extra DeWalt bags I've gotten with multiple purchase but I'm thinking of starting a "murse" online business...

Me and thousands of other SDers who are reading this post are saying "THANK YOU" for explaining all this so nicely instead of chewing us up for asking a stupid question. The internet needs more people like you! Thank you again!
