The math on these deals is always wrong. It's not $20 for $50 worth of goods. It's $50 to get $80 worth of goods. The consumer has a cash flow out of $50, not $20. I'm not saying this is a bad deal, it all depends on what value that $50 brings in. I'm just correcting the economic reality. If someone claims to be getting 100% off in their economics, please show the math.
Yall are making this too complicated.

Go to the store and spend $50 on P&G, you're out $50.

Use this promotion and you'll get *something* back.

It's a discount. Do your normal jujitsu stacking with cash back cards and coupons and make it slick, but don't scoff at an opportunity to save a few dimes on products you're likely going to buy anyways

But if you're rolling 14.5% off target gcs, it's a completely different calculation, right?

It's been a while since I did a deal with a target GC, am I right in remembering that the GC gets charged at full price on the receipt and the items get marked down accordingly? meaning you would need to spend $65 at to be eligible for the $15 P&G rebate?

Thanks!

I think the math would be to use $15 target gc and $35 cash/credit to make a $50 purchase.
Then you get back $15 target gc which cancels out and you get back $15 credit (which is same/similar to cash/credit). So you actually do spend $20 and get $50 worth stuff.

I do not think your math is accurate either. you are spending 35$ in the end (not including taxes and assuming the present value of $15 prepaid cc is $15 to simplify things) to get 65$ worth of products. The prepaid credit card is not "product" but actual money. so you are paying 50-15 ($35) to get 50+15 ($65) worth of product.

Nope! I've completed the deal twice this year and you only have to spend $50 to get both; the target receipt will list the purchased price and then directly underneath have a return value (which will be 30% less). P&G just looks at the purchase price, i.e. the subtotal amount at the bottom of the receipt.

you really can not say that universally. your "same/similar" is doing a lot of work. For some people that might be true, for many others it is not true. it is really $15 worth of target products in the future not cash/credit which usually can be used most places and quickly with little trouble.

I used same/similar for $15 rebate from p&g that comes as virtual credit card. It's not specific to target products. Please read my comment again.

Exactly and this is in reply to the folks who think my math is off.

You spend $50 at Target and then Target gives you a $15 gc that allows you to go buy $15 more stuff. So in total, you now have $65 of stuff but spent $50 of your cash.

You send your receipt to P&G and they send you $15 of a prepaid card and you do the same as you did with the Target GC and buy $15 of stuff. Now you have $80 of stuff and your cash outlay is still $50.

Yeah but it's disingenuous to count gift cards received as part of "spending". You will be spending $15 at some point at target, and $15 at some point by card, no? This will just mean you have to switch your form of payment, not necessarily spend more.

Besides some of us have stacked up target gift cards. So I'll be spending $35 in target gift card balance to receive $50 of stuff and $15 in a visa gift card.

Promo period starts from April 17, 2024. Go back and look at your older receipts too, folks.

I think they have changed that. They are looking to total instead of subtotal. The current form doesn't indicate to enter subtotal but just the total. Previous rebate that I submitted didn't qualify for $15 instead only $5 because my total spent was much less due to retailers discount.
