Does paddling an inflatable kayak suck as much I think it would vs a non-inflatable one? It just seems like it would have a lot more drag but maybe not.

It's inferior in every single way other than weight and the ability to put it in the trunk of you car.

Thought it was a scam site. Now I'm second guessing myself.

And also storage. It's much easier to store a small box over a 10 to 12 foot full kayak all year round.

Even then, I'm pretty sure you have to have a lawn / balcony to dry it out completely after use. I ended up with an inflatable paddleboard for that reason.

Depends. When you think of inflatable you probably think of a puffy bouncy inflatable like children's toy. However some of the new dropstitch inflatables go up to 10PSI. When those are inflated I can actually mistake them for hard plastic, they are very rigid and durable. They have great performance, comparable to most rigid boats. From Aquaglide the chelan is a good boat, a bit wide (only the floor is dropstitch on that model), but well performing. Itiwit x500 is another mid-range price one with full dropstitch sides.

Now would it perform as well as a performance rigid kayak? Obviously a top of the line performance kayak will perform better than top of the line inflatable. Similarly a carbonfiber sprint kayak would perform better than a regular rigid plastic in suitable conditions. But assuming you're not racing and your goal is to enjoy outdoors, the extra flexibility and portability advantages can outweigh the few percent performance loss.

Thanks, I was wondering more like when it hits a small wave or something does it buckle and you lose a good amount of momentum. Obviously that would slow you down in a rigid kayak as well but just seems like it would do it more, I just don't know how much more. My use case is largely where there are some waves and they can either be small or a couple feet. I don't do it a ton anymore, or really hardly ever these days, and used to have a rigid kayak but got rid of it, and the rack, so something like this is appealing for occasional use as you can just throw it in the car and pump it up. I'm not expecting to be able to use it as a surf kayak but then again who knows Big Grin
