Welcome to 2024. We moved passed 2014 CDMA vs GSM stupidity.
Nope. I ported multiple. Just open Google voice number and unlock for $3. Then create voice main pin and that's it. Provide those to total by Verizon when you want to transfer
This will most likely go down to $100 in a couple of months based on previous Razr series.

A quick search will show you the difference between the 2 different Razr models for 2024 (this is not the plus version).

How do you get a google voice number when you need an sms number to verify you're not a bot?

Is this phone unlocked and is it compatible with Boost?
You really need to read information provided - Total phones are not unlocked.

I think last time I tried to port out my GV number it was $20

I think you might have got it confused - $20 is the one-time cost to Port-IN a number to Google voice (not to be confused with Google Fi), essentially for safekeeping a number for months or years without paying anything monthly. And then finally if you decide to Port-out this number to any other operator, it is free.

$3 is the cost to Port-OUT a number that is initially generated from Google Voice.

I am also an Android user, but I do buy/get free iPhone11 and 12 to resell/trade-in. Up until a few weeks ago, I had six new iPhone11's and one new iPhone12. I had intended to keep the i12 to learn how "the other side" lives. I'm a retired IT guy, so learning technical stuff is not difficult for me, but the way Apple controls everything and there are very few options to do things other than Apple's way drove me nuts. So I sold/traded them all.

If don't mind sharing, traded in where and for what? Thanks.

idk if he did the same, but i traded in my iphone 11 i've had for years for a brand new google pixel 8

i got the 11 for $100 through metro like 3-4 years ago, and just had to pay around 150 after tax for the pixel 8

basically paid like 250 for it

Hard to say. I'd maybe rather have the foldable feature but the CPU/GPU in the iPhone 12 probably still spanks the Dimensity 7300x in just about every way. That will only matter to some but no question for demanding tasks the Apple A14 Bionic is notably faster than the Dimensity 7300x despite being several years older.

In the end they are very different phones. Plus do people really cross shop Android and Apple? I don't know any of those folks, all the Apple users I know only use Apple phones. I'm an Android guy myself and have no way to go to Apple after all these years of building up in the Android app ecosystem.
i went from iphone 11 to a pixel 8 just about 2-3 weeks ago, and have been using iphones/ipods since about 2010
i mainly switched since there was a crazy trade in deal, and my 11 was getting on in the years, so i figured might as well try it out, and sell the pixel 8 if i didn't like it too much

i personally still do wish i had an iphone, but the pixel 8 is not bad per se
some of the things on there annoy me, such as the touch and scrolling not seeming as smooth as iphones
i have a backup iphone 7 i am using for imessage and for contacting peeps on apple, and it feels smoother than the pixel 8 for some weird reason

i am mainly keeping the pixel 8 for its camera, as i am shooting video and needed a good camera and saw that deal so figured i'd jump on it

if you're interested in trying iphone, maybe try porting in a google voice # to metro and get an iphone 11 for free (obviously you just have to pay for the correct plan in order to get it), or $100 for the iphone 12 + the applicable plan on metro

which IS TERRIBLE, why point out a WORSE deal?
If you plan on keeping the service, and need ATT coverage some people may want to know about the option. Phones aren't a zero sum game on price only. Especially since the total deal your saddled with Verizons network, and with this phone you don't have mmWave service
