Honestly would be too slow. Harbor freight liquid transfer pump is does over 6 qts per minute and is powered by 2x D batteries. I'm filling up like 10-15 gallons at a time, but have just accepted they last like anywhere between 2 days and 6 months.

This is one of those tools that feels tempting, even without any real use case for it.. stupid slickdeals brain...

Just use a hose (either garden hose or pool pump hose) and start a siphon. These pumps are mostly only necessary when you're reaching down into something and can't get a siphon going.
He needs the m18 transfer pump

Nah, you don't need a frickin pump to drain an above ground pool lol, just some hose and a brain. Pump is totally unnecessary (I edited my comment as you were posting your response)

What is the primary use case for this? I've seen it before and think it's super cool, but I'm struggling to find an excuse to own it.

Do you realize how big an above ground pool can get? You think this guy is going to leave this m12 pump that does 9 gpm on for like an hour to drain onto his lawn, but doesn't have a drain on the above ground pool that would do the same thing? What if he doesn't want to drain it right next to the pool?

Don't have one myself but my understanding is that it can be great for dewatering underground vaults/pull boxes etc that you need to access.

I'm talking about siphoning with a hose. Siphons don't care about how big your pool is. A siphon can drain your pool entirely if you want. You don't need a drain to start a siphon. You can run the drain end of the siphon hose wherever you want as long as it's below the surface of the water you're siphoning.

A typical 1.5" hose you see used for pool plumbing will siphon water way, way faster than any of these transfer pumps will manage. Free, no batteries required.

Wonder how overkill this is to drain a large inflatable slide/pool
It pumps at 9gal/min. You can do the math.

Buy a submersible water pump to do that. I drain out my big inflatable pool with something like that. Attach it to a sprinkler to water my lawn.

Anyone ever used these as an upgrade gasoline transfer pump? I emailed Milwaukee this same question and they never replied. Wish there were portable (i.e. battery powered) gasoline transfer pumps (from 5 gallon containers) because it's either the harbor freight $12 ones or pumps that have to connect to a 12V battery. The high end ones you can mount on a truck bed also need to be wired up...
This is what was recommended to me when I asked in a previous thread.
