Ew, no. These are two different worlds. One has guaranteed security updates, and the other is a gamble.

Though 12R as someone else said is a different type of product. 8a will get 7 years of OS and sec updates, and 12R will have 3 OS and 4 sec updates. The 12R is also in a way larger size class than the 8a. I'm sure it's faster since it has an SD 8 Gen 2, but for most non-power users the Tensor chips are fine. I do a lot of multitasking with 6 apps open and it's really the RAM that holds me back, not the processor.
Now, as for my 6 pro ...now that thing is hot garbage. After three exchanges, I finally have one which doesn't have unbearable issues with the radio. I have to leave the 5g permanently off for it to not overheat.
camera and software dominates the pixel resume, memory and screen size for the OP. I feel like it's apple vs Samsung all over again with the note 4, lol.
If you got little kids or 'gram Alot, the pixel is the winner... objectively the better point-and-shoot camera. No need for gcam mods...been there, done that, lol.

My pixel 6 started having issues and I secured a trade in for Pixel 8 which so far has been fine.
Have 3 other friends with Pixel phones and only one had issues. They're pretty hit or miss in my experience.
I don't know why some people take offense in me thinking they won't last 7 years (as if one could really account for EVERY single phone out there) or that realistically most people that use this site won't upgrade before.

Edit: forgot to also respond to what you said about customer service. I've really never used them. Was it a long phone wait? Couldn't fix your problem? Like I said I've used a lot of their phones, but I've never actually contacted then that I can think of.
