This, especially if you like longer battery life and bigger screen.

And non toasted SD cards... And not getting charged more than MSRP if your system breaks

Personally I prefer the Rog Ally, but Asus has been very sketch recently with their RMA. So far my Rog Ally is holding up magnificantly and I haven't felt a need to go for the Legion Go. If you don't like the smaller 7inch screen, get the Legion Go

Depends on your needs and preferences. Personally, I like the bigger screen and detachable controllers so Legion Go for me.

Big handheld or spend a little extra and get a gaming laptop with GeForce 4060?

Seems like people would either want a smaller handheld with similar power (like the ROG Ally) or a budget gaming laptop with more power. Even more recent AMD Ryzen system with similar processor with integrated RDNA3 graphics, but better thermal headroom and larger battery and screen, might be a good option around the same price or cheaper.

Had the same quandary. Ended up biting on the Legion Go due to the form factor -- more compact, easier to whip it out in public or on the plane vs. a laptop. So far I don't regret it.

Depends, I have the original Ally Z1 Extreme, love it but battery life is horrible. If you are looking at the ally x it's more comporable. The Ally X has a battery on par or better, and also performs slightly better. Also, Ally X has 24GB of ram compared to the 16GB. But Ill jump on this because I want the bigger screen.
