Possibly just 1 point to get 30% off is a much better option. You don't have to pay for the whole thing with points.

I finally got around to using the 40% offer on Wednesday, right before it expired. Nice to have another one, even if it's not as good. I was really surprised that the old offer was still around. I thought sure it would have been used up on Prime Day.

You get 30% off the item(s) cost as long as a portion is paid w/ Amex reward dollars. 0.01 points/dollars is the minimum to trigger the discount.
