They began throttling their speeds for all plans to 480p video. I paid for a year of unlimited service and now I cannot even get the 35gb I paid for in 720p or 1080p. I will never pay for an entire year again.

I needed data for (unlimited) hotspotting. If Verizon is good in your area, I recommend Visible. Have had it for several years. Even had USM to compare for about 2 months on another phone.

50GB of hotspot … can double as home internet for some
how many days…or hours is that if you are hotspotting? Visible is unlimited. I like how you qualify by saying 'for some'

Yep, the lesson is never ever prepay. Not even for 3 months (Mint).

This sounds more like an ad than a slickdeal. Unable to replicate savings.

My old plan was with Boom (Verizon network) and was $19.99 a month all in with unlimited talk/text and 500MB data. I switched to US Mobile and now have unlimited talk/text and 1GB of data for $6.00 a month all in. Obviously I'm not a big data user as I'm on WiFi most of the time, but those are my savings. The $6/month plan has since been replaced by an $8/month plan that includes 2GB of data. I imagine that at renewal next year I'll have to pay the extra $2 a month unless they grandfather me in at the $6 rate. Either way my cell bill is super cheap.

You barely use the phone, 2gbs of data? I usually use 15/20gbs of data.

My phone is mostly used just for talk and text; I have other devices I prefer for internet surfing. Everyone has different needs in that regard, and most want more phone data. I get by fine with my gig, which is mostly used for curbside pickup through apps.

Yep, for some. Obviously not for a family of 4, but for a single guy or gal who isn't home a lot it might be plenty. For others, Visible may be the better fit. I have a family member who had a horrible experience with Visible; signal was strong but internet connectivity was always down. Maybe it was a one-off or location specific thing, as many others report being very happy with their Visible service.

Yes I learned this the way hard. So I am stuck with them until March of 2025 because I refuse to waste my money and switch right now LOL. I've been getting around the throttle using a VPN. It is irritating tho.
