I had it during the original period years ago when it was amazing, but this new revival
1. Seems like a mediocre deal
2. Seemed somewhat elusive as to exactly how many of what type of movies your membership included. Seems really variable by location/showtime etc.

I've had it since the new "reboot" (if you will) came out last January. I have the $10 tier one for me and my Gf, so $20 every month. It's definitely worth it for convenience, but your right they do use "credit" based usage now, which changes based on when you see a movie (but avg roughly 23 credits per movie). You get 36 credits a month on the $10 tier, so roughly 1 movie a month. However, your credits can roll over and max out when you've hit 2 months worth. Ex. 1 movie this month, 13 credits left over, 49 credits the month after which could roughly equal 2 movies and continue the roll over until you've hit 64 credits.
I think I averaged it out one time and it roughly comes out to be like $9-10 bucks a ticket using it anyways, so if your theater is more than that per ticket it's a little money saver. However, you can only use it on 2D and non premium showings. Before you could get around it, however now they will block it, and it will decline (I've tried). They also have an option to purchase tickets online now, but it costs 7 more credits (I guess for the online fees), which I haven't tried personally. You can also cancel your "reservation" now if for some reason your showing is sold out or you change your mind, and there's no credits lost (YMMV on this, but I haven't had an issue).
I combine it with AMC alist for films that are not showing at a a local AMC, and , its definitely worth the convenience, however we haven't used it a lot this summer. A List is definitely the better value, if a AMC is close by , and you'll see more than 2 movies a month, especially if you want to see more than non premium format shows (Dolby, imax, 3D, etc. ).
All that being said though, with it only being a buck (and I believe you can cancel anytime during the month, I could be wrong on that though), and $10 being less than going out to McDonald's, I would say it's worth the waiver.

I'm so glad someone finally explained this thoroughly. Thank you.
Do you still need a moviepass credit card to buy tickets? Does the month start before you receive that debit card?
Yes, your month countdown starts when you signup--before you receive the debit card, however, they also give you a virtual debit card that you can use as soon as you sign-up to pay for online purchases w/extra convenience fee.
Its $2 for nyc area I guess. I signed up but WOW. most of the show times for recent movies are the entire monthly credit so I'll only see 1 movie. hilarious.
I signed up for it (have been a former member but that doesn't matter for this promotion). They charged me $30 dollars which is...not $1, lol. So now I'm in dispute.
There's no way to select anything more than the $10 option for myself. I suppose I can attempt to get one movie for $1. It sounds like I'm gonna get charged the full 10 tho and have to deal with the aftermath headache
edited. if you remove the promo code the other two options for 20 and 30 then become available but no way to use the promo code. so it appears from what I'm seeing the $1 promo is only good on the $10 a month option
hope this saves others time and frustration

In the plan page, I have the option for the $1 promo and another option for the $2 for the first month then $20 after...I have to choose both?
Don't want $20 a month....
The original deal thru Costco was amazing. Wife & I went to more movies in that year then we did any 10 year period before or after. We were saddened to see the original MoviePass go away but we knew it wasn't sustainable.
